I understand that road maintenance and improvements are important and necessary, however, the amount of construction, road closures, and reduced traffic flows in Bloomington right now is out of hand. Our city is already seeing an increase in traffic demands as students return and it's going to get worse, however, full and partial road closures are increasing. This is a nightmare for people who live, work, and try to get their kids to school in this town but it reflects poorly on those new to Bloomington too. I can't hardly get my child to school, every time I try to find an alternative route, it's closed or down to one lane. Yesterday there was no sign even, just a person standing in the middle of 2nd and Walnut, without a stop sign or anything, which is obviously frustrating to drivers, but INCREDIBLY dangerous for that person. Grimes, Rogers, 2nd, Bloomfield, Kirkwood, Lincoln, Walnut-- there has to be better planning. Shutting down or reducing traffic on these key thorough fares from east to west and back, all in the same time period, has been terrible to deal with and it's dangerous. Please consider spreading work out in the future. I know it's not an easy job but I've lived here for 14 years and I've never seen it so bad as this. I don't want to go anywhere in town because it's a traffic disaster everywhere you turn and I know I'm in the majority. What does that do for our local businesses and university?

I beg you to stop all of the construction. My commute is 10 min to campus. It’s now 30 min because EVERY street, block, corner has construction going on. The traffic is getting unreal. The impacts of one construction sites traffic is impacting the others. No matter where you turn it’s construction traffic.

I don’t know why there aren’t stop signs at either end of second st. The right of way is confusing since if you didn’t think of it as one continuous street, an accident could easily happen. For example, even as a pedestrian I’ve almost been hit just from crossing and not seeing the car come from around the corner of the other side of second street. I think this is a rather dangerous intersection and there’s no reason to not have a couple more stop signs on the ends of second street.

There is currently a flagger and Grimes is limited to traffic flowing in one direction. Traffic flow is severely limited coming from Grimes east of Walnut, which is particularly challenging with the current limitations on Washington (local traffic only). The Grimes lane closure is also not listed on the road work page that you ask people to monitor.

Repeated concern of hearing drag racing late at night between the hours of 9pm-1am. Have heard more than 5 times this summer. Don’t know the exact location but can hear it from inside my home. Has to be close by.

Cars can drive faster than the speed limit over the traffic calming humps that were installed. Witness many vehicles increased speed over humps.

Vehicles consistently driving at high rates of speed on Winslow Rd. The detour on Rhorer Rd has exasperated this problem. It would behoove our community if there were some traffic calming measures implemented here, or actual enforcement of posted speed limits by BPD.
