Tic 184936 was closed saying the standard “they monitor the area and….” Also said they return shopping carts to stores but I have seen the exact same people for weeks with the exact same shopping carts. Just because they have their stuff in them doesn’t mean they are theirs. Staff needs to have them remove their stuff and return carts. Walked b-line downtown yesterday and saw 6-8 shopping carts with stuff in them.
Just a few things that the city seems to be ignoring: why is there still a sign at Building Trades Park pointing to the now non-existent emergency department on Second Street? Why do Transit buses still post notices in August informing passengers that Sunday rides will be free in the spring of 2023? Why does transit have a display case downtown with the heading “Memories” that contains not traditional memories but legal notices? And why does the mayor still include a link for donations to his mayoral campaign in his monthly Let’s Keep in Touch emails?
Despite the dozens of complaints I have seen on this platform the city continues to allow the homeless to utilize shopping carts that they have stolen to tote their crap all over town. Are the articles and news reports true that another sports/outdoors outfitter is going into the old marsh on east side and will be selling firearms? Are there not limitations on this commerce type in the city? If there isn’t, why aren’t legislators working on this. Yes we are in Indiana, but there are also ways to legislate at a local municipality level. Citizens would like to see progress on these major issues.

At what point does the city of Bloomington try to address the homelessness issue that is making areas of Bloomington disgusting, unsafe and unusable. Money spent on parks and the b-line wasted because it’s just parking spots for shopping carts and users going through withdrawal. Pleasant neighborhoods now frequently dealing with derelict arguments. Feeling safe at night around most of Bloomington is quickly becoming a thing of the past. It’s very disheartening to see such a nice, fun town being dragged down due to the inability of those in charge to fix issues everyone can see and everyone is impacted by. Do better Bloomington.
It would be nice if the city gave a little notice when utility contractors come through neighborhoods.
In reference to report #185705, this one random report is not reflective of the whole community’s views or the future of the modern workplace/workforce. Embracing hybrid and remote options is the way of the world as society was globally changed in 2020. We saw for now 3 years that this can work and does work well. One sour apple shouldn’t ruin the whole bunch. That report also showed a mentality of ‘I have it bad so others should have it bad too’. This is not inclusive, progressive behavior that we should be pushing for. Please continue to progress this city and workplace and do not revert back to outdated ways just because ‘it’s the way it’s always been done’.
