Follow up on #167661: I got this email "Sean Starowitz contacted Sean Starowitz
I received your Ureport. Yes, we are waiting on the weather to warm up to finish the Traffic Boxes. This tends to be a learning curve for new artists and some were not able to get started (or did) before the weather turned.
We have a few finished - 2nd and College and Kirkwood and Adams. The other four are in the works. "
The box at 2nd and College is the one I asked about. It is NOT finished. One wide sign is painted; there is another wide side side and the two narrow sides left to prime and paint. All previous boxes have all 4 sides (and maybe the top) painted. This new box is bigger, but that's no reason to scale down. Thanks.

Today will be a March to ask that the city declare an environmental emergency. I am unable to attend he march but ask that that the city seriously consider its options regarding our communities environmental health. Can you direct me to our work on our environmental issues and how the city is currently or planning to address this. Thank you.

Why have we had an empty big box store for years? Kmart. One of the biggest blights and we're letting a land speculator hold it or what? There's so much focus on other areas of the city it's neglectful to keep a giant empty metal warehouse by College Mall instead of putting the area to badly needed good use. Please step it up and put some attention to getting the area occupied and revitalized. Why are there all these meetings about the hospital that isn't even empty yet when we've had this massive empty structure for so long. Help please. Thank you.

Some neighbors on Buttonwood Lane in Spicewood II (a sign is placed on Sare Road) have a coffee, baked goods sale every Sunday in their driveway. This has been going on for over 6 months. Doesn’t the kitchen have to be licensed? A week or 2 seemed ok but this is going on forever. I think a percentage of revenue goes to charity. ??

Citizen called to complain that neighbor is operating a business out of his home in a residential area. Neighbor has signs, increased traffic and has blocked the street with his trailers.
Other residents are concerned and she wanted to know how to tell them to file a ureport.

Are restaurants with parklets allowed to keep non customers off of their tables? Tap says the tables in the street, in the public right of way, are only for their customers. That does not seem right.

It has come to my attention that Indiana University is still in the year of 2022 burning coal to generate steam for heating, cooling, and processes, such as cooking or for research uses. As of 2019, the university stated on their website that they were burning 60,000 tons of coal each year, but currently there is no mention on the Facility Operation's website of coal. A quick phone call confirmed they are still burning coal but they declined to share how much they are burning. The residents of Bloomington and the surrounding areas, as well as those who work in Bloomington, are being exposed to that dirty, toxic pollution. Are there any plans to address that source of pollution being generated within the city limits of Bloomington? In the Climate Action Plan there is mention of Duke Energy's lingering archaic dependence on coal, but no mention of what IU is doing. So what is the plan?
Thank you.

Dave’s Hot Chicken blares music and PA announcements very loudly, audible more than half of a block away. You can’t carry on a conversation while passing the restaurant. This seems to be a violation of the city’s noise ordinance. Please enforce it. Thank you.

On September 20, 2022, I was riding my bicycle on the 10th street trail near the eastside Post Office. I saw a man on a scooter coming toward me, in the middle of the trail, riding very fast. I maneuvered to avoid him and crashed my bike, rolling onto the pavement and grass. I was hoping my hurt ankle was only a sprain, but I could not walk on it. The next day, I went to a walk-in orthopedic clinic and learned my foot was broken in 4 places. I am still recovering. Please include this instance in any records the City keeps about scooters. Although a ban on scooters is unlikely, some limits on speed and place may help reduce incidences like mine. Thank you.
