Dear Parking Ticket Grandparent,
Your "Notification of Overdue Citation" says that I can pay online at www.bloomington.in.gov; however that is the homepage's url, that is not where I would make a payment.
The correct url to make a payment is two pages past the homepage.
We want to make it easier for people to pay their bills. So rather than having them type in a url that makes them have to follow a couple of breadcrumbs, why not send out a notification with the correct url.
https://bloomington.t2hosted.com/cit/index.aspx
Or you could go the other way with it and go one step further. Tell that a payment can be made at www.google.com

Hi,
I live just East of Woodlawn, and everyday I notice cars that are parked on 13th and 14th Street that do not have parking permits. Almost everyday there is a car parked on 14th, that is inches from the intersection of 14th and Forrest, which makes it absolutely impossible to see whether there is a car coming. Along 13th, there is always a long line of cars parked that makes it very difficult to see oncoming traffic. It would be one thing if these cars were supposed to be parking here, but they are not. Most of them, I see park here in the morning and walk to class, because they live far away and have realized that you are not enforcing parking permits in this area due to construction. Most, if not all of the construction workers park in an the grass, so all of the other cars are not theirs.
I (and everyone who lives around here) would really appreciate it if you could come check it out once in awhile.
Thanks!

HEllo,
On Wednesday I ued the parking space in front of Anatolia REstaurant in downtown. When I parked my car on 5.45 pm, I entered around 2 hours of parking and paid with my credit card. My parking should end on 8.15 pm. However I spent more time than I expected in Anatolia so I stayed in the parking space extra 45 mins. How can I pay for this extra 45 mins for parking?
Thanks

I just got a tickets because you claimed that I parked at Lot 5 without permit. However, according to the free parking place showed on your website, the Lot 5 is free for first three hours (in the metered non-reserved spaces only Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm). I'm pretty sure I didn't park at reserved place. Since this type of ticket cannot appeal, I've paid the ticket, but I just want to and need to know the reason why I've got this ticket.

Recently I have had numerous experiences in which the parking meter took my coins but did not apply time. Today it was parking meter 76130 on 6th st. I put $1.05 in quarters and dimes. I got 31 minutes on the meter. This has happened at meters near the library and on the square. I am not concerned so much about the amount of money I am putting in the meter but that I may run out of time because I don't have enough change even though I have filled the meter. When are the meters maintained? how does one complain in the moment?

Driving home on I-69, I foolishly decided to stop in Bloomington for s bite to eat. I parked on Kirkwood where another car was parked. I parked at a meter that was not posted "No Parking". I went into a pizza place, ordered, and came back to my car withing 5 mins. I was sitting in the car when a policeman approached. He was very rude, informing me it was a No Parking Zone. It appears I did not see the sign, as it was on the ground, and I should have been looking on the ground before parking. I made it very clear that I was just there for a moment, but still got a ticket. A ticket that had to be paid within a week or it doubled. That's quite a racket you have going there. I learned a very valuable lesson though. Bloomington is not a welcoming town for visitors who don't know the rules. I will not be stopping in Bloomington on any future trips on I-69.

I am writing to urge you to extend the amount of time between the issuance of a parking ticket and the date on which the price of that ticket doubles.
I realize I am lucky to have a secure job associated with a decent wage that allows me to occasionally absorb the cost of a parking ticket, for those rare times when I accidentally exceed my expected amount of time downtown.
However, it was not so long ago, when I was a graduate student, that I truly lived paycheck-to-paycheck, and had a lot of difficulty making it through the second half of the month. A $20 parking ticket which doubles in price within 10 days would have been a very difficult expense to manage. And it should be recognized that even those of us who diligently pay our meters occasionally run into difficulties that cause us to run over. At the same time, we often overpay for the meter ($$ for which we are never reimbursed).
In any event, a parking ticket that doubles in price within 10 days puts an undue burden on those residents of Bloomington who are in a challenging financial situation. I suggest you extend the remission time to 30 days to allow your city's residents to better manage their household budgets.
