This building has had a rat infestation for the past 10 years. The building is managed by Granite Student Living. There are bait traps placed around the building but these have not been helping. The rats are coming into the house, they are in the walls, and they are even entering living spaces through holes in the floor and holes in cabinets. The rat population at this location is growing due to the condition of the dumpster on site (see attached photo). The dumpster sits open with no lid, is often overflowing, and sits inside a wooden structure that the rats are using to climb up and into the dumpster. The house itself has not been completely sealed up from the outside to take away access points either. Additionally, there is no lighting in the back parking lot between the house and the dumpster, which creates an environment for rats to thrive, and also presents a safety concern for tenants. Granite has been made aware of these concerns but they have already stated "there are no plans to change lighting or the trash situation." Please have this matter looked into.
Trash and recycling bins have been at the road since at least this past Monday (5 days ago), probably since Sunday (6 days ago).
The new bus stop is not being maintained. The garbage can never has a bag in it, is missing the lid and is never cleaned out. Our shelter staff and clients have been keeping it as clean as we can but that is not in our budget to continue supplying garbage bags and labor.
recyclables left out
Trash and recycling bins on curb three days after scheduled pick up
Missed trash service, carts were at the curb and garbage was not picked up
Someone left a shopping cart filled with their belongings and it is blocking the sidewalk. I’m not sure if they are living in the bushes or abandoned the cart but it has been there for more than 2 days. It is up against the back yard fences of Sherwood oaks, in the arbor of trees/bushes at the intersection of Allendale and Winslow Rd, just east of the 3 way stop. Additionally, I felt very unsafe walking through this hidden area with the potential of someone hiding in the bushes and the cart blocking more than half of the available walking space.
Republic Services has charged me over $101 for them to remove my residential trash can and recycling can. I can't return them myself or opt out of the service. They also came onto my property with no prior notice and while I wasn't home to take the two cans. They broke 2 of my planters in the process.
