A crosswalk with lights was put in on Henderson (near Brenda Lane & Templeton Elem School) some time ago, but the lights on the sign are too subtle for motorists to notice. At least once per week I have to put my arm out into the crosswalk to get a motorists attention to stop. The signs are around 10 feet off the ground--well above the eye level of motorists; and the lights on the vertices of the pentagonal sign are tiny and give off insufficient light. You need lights that are impossible to miss and at eye level. The city has lights just like this on Washington at E Smith Ave (beside the Allison-Jukebox Center). They are at eye level and you can see them from three blocks away.

At 19th & Dunn, there are streetlights just south, and just eat of the intersection - but none on the intersection itself. I drive through here at about 6:45 am Mon - Fri and am sometimes surprised by someone walking into the roadway (at the crosswalk) that I didn't see upon my approach.

311 S Swain AVE

Case Date:

Swain is no parking on both sides of the street between 3rd street and Atwater. And it is marked with 'No Parking Any Time' signs in several spots. There is one spot that people always park. Sometimes even going the wrong way. This spot is next to the Ami restaurant parking lot. This is especially dangerous when delivery trucks are parked on the other side of Swain delivering to Mother Bears. I've attached a photo to show cars parking in this spot. There is a sign in front of these cars, and another behind them. Where they are parked is a curb that has the entrance to the Ami parking lot to the front of them and to the back of them. They think since there is no sign on this part of the curb that they can park there. I would like to see a sign posted in this part of the curb. Having s sign posted in this part of the curb would eliminate most if not all of this parking.

How about adding a left-turn arrow to the traffic signal at 3rd and Woodscrest, for people trying to turn left onto Woodscrest from Third? It is very difficult for more than a single vehicle to turn left there when there is any amount of traffic. There is a popular bank (IUCU) on Woodscrest, and more importantly, UrgentCare is there.

We need "No U-Turn" signs on all left turn cut-outs on the Bypass. I have encountered people making a left where the isn't a street to turn into simply to make a U -turn. This holds up traffic in the left lane of the 2 lane Bypass and creates a dangerous driving condition. I think people are making a U-turn on 45-46 going NW to avoid traffic on East 3rd and then tasking a right onto East 3rd to go into campus. It might have to be something physical to prevent such anarchistic driving. thanks

I am concerned about the parking on the west side of N. Maple Street near 11th Street. There seem to be "No Parking" signs all along N. Maple Street from 17th Street until you get close to 11th Street and then they are missing. This is quite dangerous as the school buses and city buses leaving the area traverse Maple Street as do cars. There are a few cars that park almost directly at the stop sign significantly hindering traffic flow and causing danger, in my opinion. I appreciate your looking into the safety of our city streets.

hi! first, i'm wondering what's up with the striping on third street between Jordan and Indiana Ave(by campus and frats). The left lane striping has been moved about a foot to the left, off center, narrowing the lane substantially; ie, off mid-way between the two lanes, confusing to drivers. I almost got into an accident, who swerved into my lane, no signal, I believe mostly since the lane markings have been manipulated and are unsafe and unclear. Second: you guys did a fantastic job on the bypass expansion. Now, there needs to be markers at all the medians and intersections that have newly installed medians. At night, this is a nightmare, ie, making a turn and not seeing the island. There are no markers for the medians. There are numerous examples of this all over town, predominantly related to bypass expansion though. So, for example, all along the bypass, between 3rd and College/Walnut intersection. There are no signs that a median exists and to remain right of center. These are needed up and down 3rd street, near Woodscrest/high, and downtown near 3rd and college/walnut. Its impossible to see the median at night; there is no yellow paint, no markings indicating any kind of median, making it very unsafe. This also includes needing a sign at Clarize, heading North, past the stop sign, behind Kmart, where the road splits and the island begins. There is no sign indicating an island and to stay to the right at the split. Thank you for making our roads safer by considering these safety measures. Jay

403 S Jordan AVE

Traffic southbound on Jordan is always held up by people waiting for the left turn to go east on Atwater. Countless times I've seen that the light has already cycled to yellow by the time northbound traffic has cleared, and as a result cars have backed up all the way to third st. If the switching equipment allows jordan southbound to get green BEFORE jordan northbound, it will improve intersection throughput tremendously.

We leave in a neighborhood with a dead end street called South Covey. Many people speed while driving on this street ignoring and disobeying the speed limit sign. It is very dangerous to be spending time with our kids outside our house when people are driving by extremely fast. Some bushes cause blind spots to drivers and pedestrians which can easily cause an accident if not paying attention. There are six families (including mine) who have two kids each. Some of the kids are toddlers, some are 4-7 years old and are still learning to cross the street. Our neighbors and I have been discussing different preventive measures to avoid an accident because of the lack of signs to let drivers know that children are playing in this neighborhood. I'm writing to request a sign that will let drivers know that children are playing constantly. A sign that will keep our children safe and where they can enjoy outdoor activities in our neighborhood. A "Slow, Children" sign will be effective so drivers can drive slow and watching out for children playing. Also, we want to request a speed bump so drivers slow down every time they pass this street and be more cautious of their surroundings. My neighbors, family and I will greatly appreciate if you can take immediate action in this situation. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions regarding this matter. Sincerely, Adriana Spencer (915) 727-4265
