The new builders on the corner of Covenanter Drive and High Street installed a pipe last week. Our concern is that the pipe was not installed low enough to keep the flow of water continuing to High street and beyond. With the rainy season coming...we are concerned that the pipe will make water back up on our property. The city just spent two weeks closing off High street to fix this issue and now we are concerned that the new builders have just put something in (but not properly installed it) so they could have a little rock culvert to get to their property off of Covenanter Drive. I sent an email to Vic Kelson and Brandon Prince on Thursday, but never heard back from them. I am writing again because we would like this matter to be taken care of now before they get more involved with building and it is too late to fix the problem. I would appreciate if somebody would get back with me on this matter. Thank you.

Hello - I am the homeowner at 102 South Waldron St. here in Bloomington. This past Friday my basement flooded an excessive amount (3 feet) due to water buildup on Waldron Street. This has happened 4 times over the past 6 years I have lived here because the water has nowhere to go due to the flat area at the bottom of Waldron Street. I am requesting a storm drain be installed on Waldron Street just North of my house and in front of 100 South Waldron Street. My neighbors basement has also been severely flooded over the years due to water buildup from the street - the homeowners name is Simon Ladd. We both have sub pumps in our basements (I actually have 2) and it still doesn’t solve the flooding issue. I have spoken to Mr. Ladd and we both agree the best solution is for the city to install a storm drain. My number is 812-369-0765. I am requesting a ditch or pipe be installed in the wooded easement south of my property that will move the water out to the storm drain that was recently installed last year on Waldron Street in front my house. On April 13th of this year, we received a lot of rain in just a couple hours and I noticed most of the water was coming from the wooded easement South of my house and running down into my yard, pooling up and overflowing down near my basement (where i've had flooding from the street runoff in years past). Our store at 512 S College Mall Road is being flooded out by water runoff that comes over the retaining wall behind the store. The water is runoff from our neighbors parking lot...a housing division.

storm sewer has collapse - at least 3 years ago - causing excessive loss of lawn. I had to have my sunroom jacked up & have the back yards in our ares are getting steeper & steeper. The manhole cover is washed off nearly every rain leaving the opening uncovered. The flooding is getting worse & worse, and something needs to be done. The subdivision is trying to work with City, but it really has to be take care of before we start losing our homes.

During Sunday storm, water runoff on Madison Street between 6th & 7th flooded into my commercial space (212 N Madison). It climbed a foot up the exterior of the building and flooded comletely to the back of the building, jeopardizing thousands of dollars in equipment and stock. It appears that the sidewalk tips toward the building, and so that once the water crests over the sidewalk, it is pushed into our space. It seems to me that the issue with the sidewalk is the city's. Further, I wonder if there is anything that can be done to ensure the functioning of the sewer, which is the problem at the base of the flooding issue. I know two other spaces on that block also flooded. I don't have a photo, but can secure one from my landlord if needed. Many thanks for looking into this. Jane

A small stream feeding into Jackson Creek at Childs Elementary School smells like chlorine - like the stream is a drained swimming pool. The stream is at approximately these coordinates: 39.138140, -86.505298 on Google maps. That is on the east side of Jackson Creek (across the bridge), on the SE border of the playground area.

at "auto glass" business at 2521 w 3rd st, this morning there was a large steady stream of water onto sidewalk even though it wasnt raining. so probably a broken pipe. please check on this or it will become a hazard for pedestrians when the temp crashes soon & it will freeze. thanks
