There was a flood in this house in April of this year. We informed Orion as soon as we discovered that it was flooding. They came and claimed they resolved it by sucking up the water in the basement and dumping it for the sump pump to push it into the city sewer, and they set a dehumidifier that we did not provide. They said this issue was resolved, but there was still obvious water in the dry walls, and they did not address the leak at all. We made the leak abundantly clear. I showed them that I put tape over the leak to try to stop the water from coming in, and they left it there. It is still there to this day. The leak came from the block wall in the basement, and the water streamed throughout the unfinished section as well as into the finished bedroom. The water settled by the drain in the bedroom and the drain in the unfinished section. They saw all of this, and never came back to check for water in the dry wall or baseboards. This is as far as they went with this issue. We received no instructions for how to prevent mold from growing, and there was no concern expressed for this possibility although the pictures show that there was water seeping through the walls. Months later, we have discovered that there is now severe mold growth in the basement. It is on the doors, baseboards, ceilings, and personal items. The most severe portion of the basement affected by the mold is the bedroom. The unfinished section shows obvious signs of a leak in the drop ceiling due to water marks. There is also mold growth on the block wall. The bedroom also has water marks on the ceiling, and the use of a moisture detection device shows that there is moisture in the ceiling likely caused by a leak which was concealed by the drop ceiling. The moisture also reaches up 3 feet in the dry wall in the bedroom. The bathroom was not flooded as severely as the bedroom, so there is less mold growth, but there are still signs of mold in the baseboards where the water ran through to the lowest point which was the drain in the bedroom. By evaluating all of these factors, it is clear that it was not any environment issue that caused mold, rather it was the unresolved leak in the block wall, the leak hidden by the drop ceiling, and the unresolved issues from the flood such as the saturated drywall and baseboards. We would like to have a city code inspector come take a look at this and confirm these statements.

Alleyway at T junction between 530 n Lincoln , 526 N Lincoln, and 5?? Grant st floods after heavy rain and has standing water for several days after. Is there any way to add a storm drain to the alley? Or would that involve tearing the entire alley up.

Rain patterns are changing. My neighborhood has no storm water drainage. The water flows down from N Dunn unabated. All my neighbors and I have done remediation but the volume of water flowing across our properties has dramatically increased. All of us have experienced flooding. I have lived in my house for 21 years. I have never had a flood in my basement. I have had two in the past month. We pay every month for storm water removal in our utilities bill, but in truth all the cost has actually fallen to the home owners. Please look into this. We all feel that storm water needs to be captured at N Dunn St. I look forward to your response.

The runoff from Dunn street continues to pose a serious problem for all houses on the west side of the street. It is a high point at Dunn and Tamarack Trail and the amount of water coming west from there has caused serious flooding problems all the way down Glendora. I have put in a triple pickup to deal with the overflow as have other neighbors but the amount of water is just not manageable coming from the top of the hill. I know that there is a plan to put in a sidewalk on the east side of Dunn and hope there is a plan for the runoff water. The attached short video is after only 30 minutes of rain causing serious flooding to my west neighbors house. I tried to attach as a zip file but the video is still too large (over 10Mb). I will be happy to share this via email when you get back with me. Thanks and regards, Jay Waxler

Water is flowing from the lawn on the west side of Roosevelt, just south of Fifth St., and then running down the sidewalk. Looks like a leak; also the sidewalk is a bit slippery because the water is flowing through tree debris.

My street runs downhill from Dunn to Walnut. In our older neighborhood, there is no infrastructure to handle stormwater. So the drainage ditch in front of my house and 3 others is the only thing that keeps our street from being flooded completely in any significant rainfall. I maintain it by weeding and cleaning out leaves and litter, along with the culvert that goes under my driveway and can become totally blocked- despite the fact that the debris that blocks it runs down from every house uphill of me to Dunn St. I'm writing two request that this ditch be repaired, as it is full of holes and water is going under it, causing even faster deterioration. Although the ditch was installed by the prior owner and not by the city, it is doing the city's job here; it is handling stormwater and preventing street flooding. This ditch is a small and short-term patch on the major drainage issue in this neighborhood which needs to be addressed in a more comprehensive way soon. My basement, which never had more than a trickle of water for the 23 years I've lived here, regularly floods now. My uphill neighbors' eastern foundation wall collapsed in a rainstorm 2 years ago. Glendora runs like a river in any rainfall, and as you know, rainfalls are getting heavier and more frequent. I will take pictures to show that my ditch keeps one side dry so that the street doesn't flood all the way across. I would really appreciate some short-term help with patching and possibly putting a grate across the culvert, along with a response about a long-term solution. Thank you for any help you can provide.

The Johnson Creamery flooded again. I am a tenant in the building and after talking with the management company of the building, they indicated that the reason why the building floods regularly now is because of the way the drainage is designed. We walked around the back of the building (north side) and saw drainage that clearly can not handle the amount of run off coming from between 8th and 11th st buildings and parking lots. I'd like to request the city evaluate the options so this can be fixed. This building now floods several times a year, ruins furniture, initiates insurance claims, and disrupts business operations like mine. I will be unable to meet with clients and perform my job for several weeks while the building is cleaned out again.

Drainage or Runoff

This is the second time this year that my house has been flooded because of the inadequate city storm water drainage at the corner of Overhill dr and East 8th Street. It happened on April 4th and on June 18th. I'm not sure if the city had someone come and cleaned up after storm on April 4th, but my handyman told me that he had to remove a bunch of rocks from the drainage. I really believe that the storm water drainage is too small. Even if we clean it up, it still doesn't function properly. The storm water from the city's drainage backed up to my driveway and flooded the entire basement floor. It has happened many times, but the problem is getting worse throughout the years. I had to spend thousands to remodel my house due to the flood damages.
