I REPORTED A MALFUNCTIONING PARKING METER AT ZONE7683, METER#SCOL107A. I DEPOSITED $2.00 IN THE METER AND IT DID NOT CREDIT ME ANY TIME AT ALL. I MOVED TO A DIFFERENT SPACE, TO AVOID GETTING A TICKET, AND HAPPENED TO RUN INTO THE METER LADY WHO GAVE ME THE NUMBER TO CALL TO REPORT THE METER. A METER TECH CAME RIGHT AWAY, AND REPAIRED THE METER, BUT COULD NOT REFUND MY $2.00. I UNDERSTAND THINGS BREAK, BUT IF I HAD NOT NOTICED THE MALFUNCTION, I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A TICKET. IF I HAD NOT REPORTED IT SOMEONE ELSE COULD HAVE GOTTEN A TICKET. SO I WOULD LIKE MY MONEY BACK. QUARTERS WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE.

I tried to call the number listed for reporting parking meter issues and some guy just said hello then hung up on me after asking who I was trying to reach then I tried again and nobody answer. Anyway, twice in the past month I put in $.25 (was dimes and nickels, not quarters, and yes I counted correctly) and it didn't give me the full 15 minutes. Also, the one time I tried my IUCU debit/credit card it wouldn't take it. I don't want to get a ticket for not being able to use a card if that is all I have or for putting in the correct amount of money and not being given the full amount of time. Not sure why either is happening but both are very problematic. Thank you.

Today I parked in spot 115B on the east side of the square. I swiped my card several times, and it kept saying "transaction cancelled". I had just used my debit card at the store with no issues. I dug through the car for change, and was able to pay with change with no issues. But the meter refused to accept my card. I have never had a problem before, and it was very strange.

Since you have implemented meters, I have only gone downtown a few times a year. It'd be nice if you posted signs where parking is free. To figure out where there is free parking in this town is almost impossible. Why not parking holidays during the summer for residents?

I pay $67 a month to park in the Morton St. garage. For the past week and a half almost, the gates to the garage have always been open. Anyone can come and go as they please. What exactly am I paying for if it has been open this long?

I parked downtown this past weekend to dine out with a good friend - the meter would not take my card at first, then it did, but wouldn't let me remove it (I though I'd have to leave it!). My friend did manage to wrestle it out of the meter, but we had to find coins to pay the meter - THEN - it only registered about half of the coins we inserted, so we lost $ parking so that we might support our local restaurants. Meter #76118 on the south side of the courthouse in front of Fountain Square. I suspect this is not the only defective meter? Might be time for tuneups?

On 12/3/15, I parked at a meter on Kirkwood in front of the library. I used my debit card and wanted to pay for three hours of parking. The meter would only give me one hour; it did not give me the option to add more time the way most of the meters do. I had to insert my card three times in order to get the desired amount of time, but I see that I was charged the 30 cent convenience fee each time. I am writing about the fact that there seem to be some cars that just use the 4th street garage as a storage place for their cars. The city suffers from not enough free parking downtown and the 4th street garage seems to be the place for people to store their trucks/automobiles for covered parking. I know for a fact that there is a very large white truck on the first floor of the garage that has just been sitting there for several days and hasn't moved. I don't even know if the truck has a monthly permit, but with free parking so scarce downtown, it would be nice if people would not be able to store their cars in that garage. I have poor Ivy Tech students who can't find any free parking during class time at the Waldron Arts Center and are pretty much forced to pay and extra $100 a semester just for street parking. I would appreciate somebody getting back with me on this matter. Thanks. Ingrid Faber
