Tic 184936 was closed saying the standard “they monitor the area and….” Also said they return shopping carts to stores but I have seen the exact same people for weeks with the exact same shopping carts. Just because they have their stuff in them doesn’t mean they are theirs. Staff needs to have them remove their stuff and return carts. Walked b-line downtown yesterday and saw 6-8 shopping carts with stuff in them.

Despite the dozens of complaints I have seen on this platform the city continues to allow the homeless to utilize shopping carts that they have stolen to tote their crap all over town. Let this picture be proof that the city needs to finally take action! (Behind ace pawn on 2nd street next to our lovely city adorned seminary park)

I am not finding where to record my concern of the proposed jail. It should not be in a highly populated residential area that includes an elementary school. There has to be a better location. The one property was rejected due to wrong zoning. I know that zoning can be changed. If it proceeds in this populated area and property values go down, will taxes go down also? There is always a chance of escape, why put a lot of people at risk and being fearful. Thank you, Ruth Holman 1429 W Petal CT.

Since the corrupt, racist and morally bankrupt organization known as Black Lives Matter has shown their true colors by supporting the murder of innocent people along with the rape and murder of women the murder and mutilation of the elderly and the beheading of children, will Hamilton continue to support them? Immediately remove the graffiti from 6th street and remove the banner from the mill. By continuing to support this communist organization, this administration is saying they support terrorist!! For once in your little grease ball life do the right thing. You can take some of the one million dollars for the 40 foot phalic “ode to me” and remove all things related to this organization once and for all. Now we know that all of your under the desk bootlicks like wasson, boldin and zody etc-etc will do everything they can to keep you from seeing this. Nobody wants to say little Johnny is ever wrong about anything. The city of Bloomington can’t be rid of you and your staff soon enough. And if the new female version of Hamilton stands with Black Lives Matter there should be an immediate recall. #John Hamilton and the city of Bloomington stand with terrorist!!

I just watched someone get a ticket warning for being parked on the grass in front of the house they live in. There is absolutely nothing that necessitates a law to prevent people from parking on sand, grass, dirt, or any other “unapproved surface”. If the property isn’t city owned and funded why would a person need to move their vehicle? Damage to their lawn is their business and they can reseed if they want to? Does the city also require perfectly grown grass on every lawn? The car is off the street. It is not preventing traffic or any permitted parking from occurring. The only reason you would pass such a law is to require the owner of said property to pay the money to pave so that the neighborhood “looks” a certain way or pay you to park on the street that they don’t need to use. There is no point in buying property if you can’t park your car wherever you’d like on it. I’m not the person who got the warning but it’s ridiculous for the local government to try to bully people into buying street parking permits from you. This city ordinance requiring a particular parking surface is completely unreasonable and it erases the meaning of property. I know absolutely no one will read this or care and that you will all just keep unreasonably ticketing people but just in case a single person actually cares I’ll send this message.

Scooters, Bike-share and Related Issues

Case Date:

We need to get rid of those electric public scooters. I am a big advocate for public transportation, but it is clear that the infrastructure of Bloomington is not meant to handle anything other than cars, foot traffic, or occasionally bicycles. The use of public electric scooters constantly poses a risk to pedestrians walking, or vehicles in motion. As a walker I have nearly been hit by one of these multiple times, and as a driver these things are such a liability due to their speed and the fact that most people who use them do not follow the rules, they just zip around. Last year a young man died on one of those scooters. This year another is injured. This is becoming a public safety emergency, so please for the sake of the bodily health of the citizens, ban these scooters.

With the new administration incoming, will there be a renewed focus on female centered solutions for various items in city hall? The women’s bathrooms have gaping cracks in the stalls which lack privacy, there is a bolt missing in a lock that creates a peep hole, and the breastfeeding privacy area is a curtain at the entrance of the 1st floor bathroom which provides little to no privacy as folks can see into the area when the door opens and you can clearly see shoes and who’s in the area below the curtain. It is difficult to report these issues on the internal system as they require a lot of information and cannot be reported anonymously by staff who just simply seek workplace improvements and equity. Thank you for any assistance with this!

At what point does the city of Bloomington try to address the homelessness issue that is making areas of Bloomington disgusting, unsafe and unusable. Money spent on parks and the b-line wasted because it’s just parking spots for shopping carts and users going through withdrawal. Pleasant neighborhoods now frequently dealing with derelict arguments. Feeling safe at night around most of Bloomington is quickly becoming a thing of the past. It’s very disheartening to see such a nice, fun town being dragged down due to the inability of those in charge to fix issues everyone can see and everyone is impacted by. Do better Bloomington.

Can the city work with the County on getting a contact form or system similar to uReport? There is no way to contact the county on a regular basis, let alone easily, without creation of an account in their new government online system and submitting a property complaint form. This puts too much of a burden on citizens or visitors who have inquiries, questions, complaints, feedback, etc. It is very difficult as a Monroe county citizen to get the same level of accountability and transparency from the commissioners and other departments.
