During the past week, I've noticed that Clear Creek Trail and certain parts of the B-Line Trail (southernmost) have become exceptionally buggy. I've lived in Bloomington since 2009 and used both trails regularly since then -- and this is the time of year when the mosquitoes, gnats, and other critters tend to increase in population. But this year is the WORST I've seen it in my 5-plus years here. In those areas where it is possible, it seems some spraying/other mitigation is in order to keep the critters in check! It got so bad last week I literally cut one of my runs short (despite wearing hat, sunglasses, and Deep Woods Off), drove back to my neighborhood on the east side, and finished the run on the streets over there (where there is no trail, but far fewer bugs). In addition, I am aware that a good portion of the Clear Creek Trail runs adjacent to some sewer lines. But usually, only in 1-2 places do you ever get a whiff of it and usually it's very brief. No big deal. Well, this past week, much of the lower half of the trail (the area south of where the overflow water tends to flood the trail after heavy rainfall) has carried a very consistent and moderate "poo" smell. And I'm pretty sure it's not coming from the four-legged running companions who like to use the trail as well and do their natural business. I'm not sure if there is a way to mitigate the smell somehow or if the sewers are unusually backed up or what -- but the smell has become such in past week where it might deter some from using the trail (if the bugs don't chase them off first) unless something is either done or the smell subsides naturally. Again, I've lived in B-Town for 5-plus years and have never encountered the smell on the CCT being near this strong -- or nearly continuous along the southern half -- as it is now. Just thought I'd bring this to your attention; I know that in talking with other runners/walkers/joggers, they are having bug/smell problems as well. The culvert under Arden Drive at Wilton Drive is blocked and cause all water to run across the road . This has been an issue for 6+ months .

For the past few days I have noticed moisture apparently coming from under the street at the corner of my yard in the Linden Hill subdivision. The gutter in front of my mailbox seems to have a small amount of water present when no other standing water is visible in the neighborhood. Looks like an underground leak which needs to be investigated. Not bad now but could get worse. Thanks.

Water is hazardous! Apparently a young boy drown in one of the ponds in Wylie Farm subdivision, i was told it was this one. I fell in this one myself, there is an extremely slippery plastic sheet that covers the entire bottom of the pond, up to the edge of the water. If the water is high you don't see it, if its low it's exposed on the edges. When it was low i went to the edge to take a picture of the water. I fell in by slipping the instant my foot hit the plastic sheet, all the way up to my shoulders and i fell down 3 more times trying to stand up. I ended up having to get on my hands and knees to crawl out in order to get enough friction on the plastic to move and pull myself up by grabbing handfuls of the grass growing on the shore! A small kid would almost certainly drown there. A very insufficient "fence" made of 3 almost invisible plastic wires had been put around one of the ponds. A much, much better fence needs to be put around all of them, or eventually another kid will drown.

Significant water leakage from the water meter behind 108 N Union St. Water running down the driveway between 106 and 108. Please investigate urgently to insure that we aren't getting charged excessively for water usage.

Our next door neighbor (to the west) have a giant pile of garbage and a separate pile of kitty litter in his back yard. Both piles are several feet tall and several feet wide. You can smell the piles around the neighborhood. They are also hazardous since they are right next to an open water drainage ditch. I know that these same people have been reported to the city several times before about the same thing (by the previous owners). What can be done to address this issue?

We live at the bottom of a hill and there is no storm drain on our road at all. As a result, we get all the water runoff from Adams and connecting roads directly into our yard. We would like a drain put into our block. Additionally, we have had major flooding in our back yard from the open water ditch that runs next to our house (we have already reported this once). Something needs to be done to prevent our house being flooded out because of city drainage issues. Thank you. We live at 1315 W 6th St.

Storm drain at walnut st pike and heather drive not picking up water runoff coming down the hill from south. Runoff deposits large amounts of gravel in the turn lane to heather dr. Reported this several months ago. Drain pipe going a cross the road was cleaned. Real problem is that drain on walnut pike does not catch the water, it swirls by the drain and turns into heather and goes down that drain. Slowing for the turn allows gravel to be deposited in the road. Makes a potentially dangerous turn for cars slowing to turn. Especially when it "ices" up.
