Traffic Suggestions
E Wexley Rd
- Case Date:

This is a straightaway that people go too fast on. I was hoping to suggest 2 speedbumps to calm traffic as there are quite a few kids in area and school let out puts even more on the street. I have attached an ideal thought but appreciate and welcome engineer input.

Someone decided to camp on our front porch last night. This trash was not there yesterday, but it was today. The house is for sale, and we have moved out. There is also a camp set up behind the shelter in the undeveloped alley, two buildings to the north. Can our front porch please be checked after dark to ensure no one is trespassing?
Traffic Signals
525 S Patterson DR
- Case Date:

The crosswalk buttons at the intersection of Patterson and Prospect Street do not appear to be functioning correctly. We have had several reports from our residents that they do not work. Additionally, we have a resident who uses a wheelchair, which makes it considerably dangerous for him to cross, considering that they don't work.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Line of Sight

The alley connecting W 3rd Street to W 4th Street, adjacent to 415 W 4th Street, has become a significant pedestrian safety concern.
Vehicles frequently travel through the alley and cross the sidewalk onto W 4th Street without stopping or yielding to pedestrians. There is currently no stop sign, crosswalk, or other traffic control indicating that drivers should stop before crossing the pedestrian path, and the path is totally blind to alleyway drivers.
This is a year-round issue but it becomes especially hazardous during IU student move-in and other high-traffic periods, when both vehicle and pedestrian traffic increase considerably. People who regularly walk through this area have reported multiple instances of nearly being struck by vehicles exiting the alley. I am requesting that the City evaluate this location and consider installing a stop sign for vehicles exiting the alley and/or adding a marked pedestrian crossing or other appropriate safety measure. Given the limited visibility and lack of any traffic-control signage, some form of intervention seems necessary before someone is injured.

The sewer cover in this area was covered with soil over the winter when snowplows came through to clear the snow from the grassy area to locate water/sewer lines. You can no longer see it. It is possible that it needs to be cleaned out based on issues I'm experiencing in my home nearby.

The amount of simultaneous construction across the entirety of Bloomington has reached a truly ridiculous point. Driving anywhere in town has become a tumultuous, stressful mess. This widespread tearing up of major roads started well before summer, and instead of wrapping up, the gridlock has only gotten increasingly horrid. To make matters worse, the city failed to finish these projects before a massive drove of college students returned to town. Flooding our already broken, bottlenecked streets with thousands of extra drivers at the exact same time is a complete failure of planning that has made Bloomington practically undrivable.
