A house on my street has become a transition house for alcoholic woman. My opinion is that this primarily one-family house has become a hotel. This neighborhood isn’t zoned to all allow businesses. Along the north edge of property where the alley intersects Grant and under the junipers, there is an old, metal fence with a single stretch of barbed wire at the top. This is alongside a public alley, so the barbed wire should not be there, as per City Code 14.36.030 - "Barbed wire fences". It would suffice if the offending wire were removed.
Although the map doesn't indicate it, there is a house on the corner that appears to be running a commercial paint company. There's a trailer with no less than 50 5 gal paint buckets and a storage trailer as well. Not sure if paint is leeching out of the trailer but it looks like crap in a residential neighborhood.
This building has an extremely bright on the west side of the building that not only illuminates their property at night but also shines across Grant street and floods the houses across the street with sharp, glaring light. It is so blindingly bright that it is hazardous to walk down the steps of those houses at night. Can the city require that property owners face lights downward and/or ask them to install some sort of shielding so that the lights are not so offensive to the adjacent neighbors and neighborhood in general? It's bad enough that the building is so generic and tacky, but can the city prevent them from ruining the lives of people in other properties, all the while causing a hazardous situation to exist?

Property next to mine 516&518 south Woodlawn has been gutted with a pending permit and even more of a concern is the workers indicated a driveway and garage with a apartment on top is next I would like some input as this directly impacts my property
I am a homeowner here in the city. Unexpectedly my neighbor trenched And waterproofed his basement. The trench was between our houses, Which are close together. I asked him if he needed a Permit. He said no. Is he right?
They are covering the entire yard with gravel. Is this not against the planning and zoning codes? Don’t they have to have grass or plants?
