Sewer Problems (Storm Sewers)

The entire street on Olive between Thornton and Miller has flooded with BLACK WATER yet again damaging 5 properties. The flooding is more severe due to the regrettable actions the city took to dump excess asphalt into the low point in the road. It's 2 am so I will not be photographing until dawn, but let me assure you, severe damage has been done by the city of Bloomingtons willful neglect of this area. We were promised a fix last year, and now during a quarantine we are flooded with BLACK WATER.

I just opened a new ticket for the most recent flood, but I am appalled by the response "I want to try something" neglectful attitude that has led to BLACK WATER flooding during a quarantine. We are unable to deal with this extent of damage without compromising ourselves and the community.

All the storm water runoff from the White Oak Cemetery basin, during very hard rains, cannot be handled by the 4-storm drains near the intersection of 7th and Oak Streets. The excess is diverted through the gravel parking of our neighbor at 1025 W 7th, washing the gravel onto the street. The storm water then turns and washes through the alley between 6th & 7th Streets. It then goes through our carport and yard washing our mulch away in places. Oak street was paved in the past and is higher than the storm drain at 7th and Oak so any excess water has do go through the gravel parking instead of down the street. I would be happy to meet someone to look at this problem. Thanks.

Our alley way floods when there are heavy floods. The neighbors who share this alley are concerned and ask for the city to assess this situation and find a solution. Please contact me for more information. One of the neighbors has a video to share of the water flow. Thanks

I am requesting a ditch or pipe be installed in the wooded easement south of my property that will move the water out to the storm drain that was recently installed last year on Waldron Street in front my house. On April 13th of this year, we received a lot of rain in just a couple hours and I noticed most of the water was coming from the wooded easement South of my house and running down into my yard, pooling up and overflowing down near my basement (where i've had flooding from the street runoff in years past).
Phil Peden is who I've talked to in the past.
Hoping this can be resolved before we get more rain this Spring.
Thank you,

I am having an issue with my front ditch flooding every time it rains. This picture was taken today (June 2nd, 2021) during the light rain we experienced throughout the day.
When we receive heavy down pours or rain for multiple days the runoff storm water puts my mailbox post underwater. Which, over time, rots the post (I have recently had it replaced).
When the front yard does flood the water travels across the road in a 30-40 foot wide swath, several inches deep.
When dry, the culverts (under my driveway and the one going under the road) can be observed as 95-100% silted in and obstructed.
I have noticed over the past couple of years where the city has had the utilities marked and the culvert marked going under the road. Other culverts in the Park RIdge neighborhood have been replaced or repaired except for the one in front of my residence.
I would appreciate an update on when this issue will be addressed.

This morning around 7:00 -7:30 while on my morning walk I had two mishaps with regard to the construction work around or near the 4th st. fire station. First, crossing Kirkwood st. A dump truck (Young construction) decided to cut me off at the pedestrian crossing at Kirkwood and Dunn st. Next, a large loader (Milestone Construction) decided to back up without looking. I was on the sidewalk all the time and was within inches of getting KIlled. I yelled very loud and the operator heard over the machine and stopped.
I do not believe I should have such experiences with just a simple walk.
I have noticed over many weeks that this project is a slip-shod operation with a lack of management. Perhaps IOSHA needs to be alerted.

Flooding/Standing water accumulates between the street and our fence. Looks like this may be part of the easement. This photo was taken in January, but it is a continuous issue whenever it rains. Can you please contact me to discuss this? Thank you!
