Sewer Problems (Storm Sewers)

3903 S Sage CT

Case Date:
9/4/2014

Mr. Kittridge left a voice message on 9/2/14. He is the treasurer of the Peppergrass Homeowners Assoc. and wants me to meet with him to discuss a problem w/storm drainage in Peppergrass that relates to the city employees believing that the storm drainage facilities in Peppergrass are privately-owned. He says that is incorrect and that he has documentation showing they were taken over by the city back in the 80's & 90's as part of the annexations of that area into the city. He needs someone who can help resolve that issue so they can get some stormwater drainage system problems repaired.

Sewer Problems (Storm Sewers)

3807 S Preston CT

Case Date:
6/22/2019

The street drain and field drain on Preston Ct does not appear to be able to properly handle large amounts of rain fall. It is common for both to become overwhelmed, especially the field drain in the back of 3807 Preston Ct. these drains need to be cleaned and inspected for proper sizing. Water flow out of field drain appears o be insufficient.

Some kind of pipe (I believe it is an old storm sewer) that runs along Woodburn Avenue north of 17th street is caving in. There is a deep hole in the yard of 1401 N. Woodburn, which I fell in on Saturday. There have been similar holes in the yards of adjacent properties, which the property owners have filled in, but it is clear that new holes are starting to open up along this stretch of Woodburn, which will create more hazards for the pedestrians who walk along there.

Hello, My home sits at the bottom of an incline where the water in the neighborhood drains onto our driveway and property. Every time it rains the water causes erosion on the property and flooding to our garage and yard. Not only is the un-directed water effecting us, but is also causing the road to erode where water is standing on the asphalt. As well as eroding neighbors propertys and driveway, which then end up in front of our home puddled in the street,(water, gravel, soil). A solution could be installing curbs and catchment drains in the surrounding area to better direct the water from causing more damage to ours and neighboring properties. Please feel free to call, email, or text. I am happy to send additional photos of some of the damage that has occurred. Thank You

Sewer Problems (Sanitary Sewers)

Case Date:
6/7/2018

My wife and I are owners of a home at 806 W. 4th St., here in Bloomington. We have owned this home since approximately 2006. Recently I had a conversation with John Kirtland, who is the owner of a rental property at 112 S. Maple. This property backs directly onto our Eastern property line to the rear of our home. Apparently, these two houses share a sanitary sewer line at some point, with the Maple St. house connecting downstream of our line, before connecting to city sewer line. This is a best guess, as I am not sure it has been verified. Mr. Kirtland is apparently having plumbing issues with his rental property, and is proposing that he disconnect our line. Understandably, I am concerned that this is not a solution that works for our house. I assume that this current sanitary sewer hook up for these homes has been in place for nearly 100 years, as our home was built around 1920. We have had the clay tile in our backyard dug and replaced with plastic a couple of years ago, although we only went for about 60 ft., until we could connect to functioning line. It has occurred to me that no action should be taken until CBU has been made aware of the situation and given your recommendation. Thank you for your assistance, George Bull and Faye Mark

Sewer Problems (Sanitary Sewers)

I just have a question. I live at 214 E Hillside. There have been crews there the last 2 nights working on sewers. Last night we got a strong adhesive type smell in the house while they were working. We realized it was coming from an old kitchen drain that wasn't capped. I'm just curious what we were smelling. We've aired the house out, and I plan on properly capping the unused drain, but I want to make sure we weren't exposed to anything harmful. We asked a worker and he said it wasn't harmful, but can you please explain what that smell was. We're also curious if you'll be working on hillside all week.
