Wildlife Conflict

2800 W Heartwood CT

Case Date:
9/26/2025

I live in a basement apartment at The Quarry apartments, and there is a recurring rat problem that has not been resolved by my property owner/management. Rats have been actively present in the window well outside my basement window. This is not the first time this issue has occurred — last year, rats managed to enter my apartment, and I had to purchase my own sticky pads to catch them. At that time, the property management was notified, but no permanent solution was put in place to prevent recurrence. This year, the problem has returned. I submitted a maintenance request several days ago, followed by multiple emails (including a formal escalation) and phone calls. Despite these efforts, the property management has failed to respond or take corrective action. The ongoing presence of rats poses a serious health and safety hazard and directly impacts the habitability of my apartment. Given that this is a repeated issue, and management has been unresponsive, I am requesting HAND to inspect the property and require the landlord to take immediate corrective action, including extermination and sealing of all potential entry points.

This car has not moved for a week... someone appears to be living in it. Is this really acceptable? One week ago I was sent this email. David, Hello. I received the uReport you filed with the City regarding the van on W Howe Street. A Downtown Resource Officer spoke with the owner today and is in the process of attempting to help them with repairs so the van can be moved in the near future. Potholes, Other Street Repair

1269 W Countryside LN

Case Date:
9/25/2025

A storm drain down hill from the speedbump on this road is beginning to collapse. The blacktop directly in front of the drain has broken down, creating a large and growing hole in the roadway. This is not a pothole, the road had fallen through completely. This problem appears to be caused by vehicles driving around the newly installed speedbump. Before the road was repaved and the speedbump added, there were no issues with this storm drain. Thanks for your help.
