Sewer Problems (Storm Sewers)

There are two storm pipes located just north of the IMI concrete facility on Rogers, directly across the street from the warehouse. One storm pipe appears to be mostly blocked by debris (lumber, branches, some plastic and other trash). The second pipe is mainly blocked by a large dam of branches. Water is slowly flowing over the dam and draining through the southern pipe. Yesterday, 04 Feb, the water level appeared to be approximately 6 inches above the makeshift dam.

My Name is Josh Goodman and I live at 2821 E Tapps Turn, 47401. My gutters drain into an underground drain tile system (pvc pipe) and, as best as I can tell, this system drains east to west, runs under my backyard, and then hooks into the storm sewer (somewhere underground) on the east side of Sare Rd just north of where Buttonwood Rd intersects Sare Rd.
I've been having issues for a while with the system backing up causing water to bubble out of the drain tile and down into the ground right next to the house. This tends to only happen during medium to heavy downpours.
I had Roto Rooter come out with their pressurized water snake and camera and we cleaned out the entire system up until the point where it enters the storm sewer, but the issue still persists. There was a little bit of debris (leaves, etc.) but nothing that would cause the issue I'm seeing.
Would it be possible for someone in the Utility Department to come out to my property to take a look to see if there is anything that can be done on the City's side to remedy this issue? I can be reached at 812-671-0049.
Thanks,
Josh

After the heavy rain on 2/7/19 a pipe in the alley behind 1107 S Washington St continued to push water up even after the water level in the Davis street ditch went down.

At the corner of Allen and Palmer the rain has created a gully that is below the storm sewer. The water continues around the corner and south (downhill) on Palmer creating a strong washout of the asphalt. The storm sewer at the bottom of the hill in front of 1005 S Palmer collects chunks of asphalt and the gully gets wider with every rain event

We live on the corner of Acuff Road and Kinser Pike. Under the thick layer of soil and big pile of leaves lies our metal storm drain. Rain rushes and washes dirt from the farm field behind our house via the deep trench along the side of Acuff Road (obviously we have NO curbs or rain gutters), and all that debris ends up on top of our storm drain. The drain is consistently covered and therefore clogged, so all the rain water rushes right over it and flows onto Kinser Pike. We are constantly cleaning all the collected debris from the grate even though we pay for this cleaning/maintenance service on our monthly water bill. We are in desperate need of a solution to this problem.

When I do some washing, the dirty water will slowly leak into the adjacent bedroom floor along the gap of the wall base. I am doubting whether there are some problems in sewers?!

This is a follow-up to case # 167833. So the storm drain was uncovered, which is good, however, all the debris that was covering it was thrown in our yard--very much NOT appreciated!!! Now, we have to clean that up. Plus, the 4 or so inches of silt/sand/soil in front of the grate is keeping the rain water from reaching the storm sewer as seen in my photo. We received rain today, and it just collected on the road.

I filed a report about three weeks ago about a blocked storm drain that keeps overflowing and spilling water into our yard. It overflowed yesterday, and it's like a river of water running over the street and into our yard. The water is doing considerable damage to our side and back yard--it's basically underwater whenever it rains. This really does require some serious attention. Either a more thorough clean up or repair. It's costing us 100s if not 1000s of dollars in repairs to our yard. Please try to fix this.
The storm drain is clogged on the 1300 block of W 6th Street, and our house is 1315 west 6th street.

The storm pipe/drain does not appear to have sufficient capacity to handle flash flood events. Storm water from the neighborhood overflowed from the street, and then flowed across the neighbor's driveway and down the slope into our property, flooding our crawl space. Last night there was literally a small river of water running aside and into our house, moving so fast that I could not safely walk outside until the rain subsided.
We need an engineer to evaluate the current drainage system, in particular the capacity of the storm pipe and culvert that runs directly between our property and the neighbor's. We can make some mitigating improvements on our own property, but we really are not equipped to handle the sheer volume of stormwater from the entire neighborhood during very heavy periods of rain like we saw last night.
I took some videos during the flood that we can send as well.

There are two storm water grates that are dangerous to bicycles that should be replaced. They are located at the south-east corner of the Monroe County Courthouse Square. One is on the west side of Walnut St and the other is on the north side of Kirkwood Ave. These grates have long openings parallel to the street. A bicycle wheel can penetrate deeply into these grates and thus throw the rider and/or damage a bicycle.
