Overgrown bamboo at 1002 W 6 St and Elm bending into sidewalks and street obstructing traffic. Bird droppings covering the sidewalk. The invasive plant has encroached on neighboring property where we live at 1004, so we are having to engage removal services and eventually install impermeable barriers at our expense. The back yard of 1002 is overgrown also, feral cats, possum and a skunk have been sited or smelled in a fallen shed which has not been cleared out. The Elm Street side of 1002 is full of debris and overgrowth and there is an unattended stagnant water feature where we hear frogs in the summer (which do attract copperhead snakes). Someone does seem to be inhabiting the house, though we know that the owner of the house does not reside in Indiana presently.

There was a flood in this house in April of this year. We informed Orion as soon as we discovered that it was flooding. They came and claimed they resolved it by sucking up the water in the basement and dumping it for the sump pump to push it into the city sewer, and they set a dehumidifier that we did not provide. They said this issue was resolved, but there was still obvious water in the dry walls, and they did not address the leak at all. We made the leak abundantly clear. I showed them that I put tape over the leak to try to stop the water from coming in, and they left it there. It is still there to this day. The leak came from the block wall in the basement, and the water streamed throughout the unfinished section as well as into the finished bedroom. The water settled by the drain in the bedroom and the drain in the unfinished section. They saw all of this, and never came back to check for water in the dry wall or baseboards. This is as far as they went with this issue. We received no instructions for how to prevent mold from growing, and there was no concern expressed for this possibility although the pictures show that there was water seeping through the walls. Months later, we have discovered that there is now severe mold growth in the basement. It is on the doors, baseboards, ceilings, and personal items. The most severe portion of the basement affected by the mold is the bedroom. The unfinished section shows obvious signs of a leak in the drop ceiling due to water marks.There is also mold growth on the block wall. The bedroom also has water marks on the ceiling, and the use of a moisture detection device shows that there is moisture in the ceiling likely caused by a leak which was concealed by the drop ceiling. The moisture also reaches up 3 feet in the dry wall in the bedroom. The bathroom was not flooded as severely as the bedroom, so there is less mold growth, but there are still signs of mold in the baseboards where the water ran through to the lowest point which was the drain in the bedroom. By evaluating all of these factors, it is clear that it was not any environment issue that caused mold, rather it was the unresolved leak in the block wall, the leak hidden by the drop ceiling, and the unresolved issues from the flood such as the saturated drywall and baseboards. We would like to have a city code inspector come take a look at this and confirm these statements.

My roommate and I experienced sewage water expelled from our shower drain at our rental property managed by Granite Student Living on Saturday 1/24/26 when we tried to plunge a toilet. We have had three plumbing companies come out to inspect the line leading out of the house, and the conclusion is that the clay piping has been damaged/collapsed, and there may be further blockages that need the use of a high pressure water jet. We have been told water can slowly flow out of the house, but trying to send solid waste out of the property could cause a repeat of the original incident. Our management has been reluctant to assist us, meaning we have not had reliable access to a toilet on our property because it is the only bathroom. Granite management also informed us that they were unable to help because it was the entire street sewer main that collapsed, but after asking this to city utility maintenance, I was told that was not the issue. I'd like for the outside line to be inspected so our management company will either fix the issue or help find us temporary housing so we have reliable access to a bathroom.

After reporting several urgent issues to maintenance Tenant was under the impression that his until would be inspected during the 3 day code inspection dates stated by management however no repairs have been made. Maintenance entered but never returned. For over a year I have reported my toilet and shower bubbling up waste that spills over into closet and connecting rooms. I have also reported several times that my light switches electrocuted my son and that several electronics have been short circuited due likely to unstable flowing electricity caused by water damage in the walls. This also has caused my lights to surge and my over range to fluctuate in temperature. My home floods multiple times a week which has caused the carpet to mildew and mold. Living with these issues have caused respiratory infections for myself and kids.

Bamboo overgrowth 1115 W 6th Street's SouthEast corner fence line is spilling over to easements of the three adjacent neighbors yards and easements. In addition to the rampant spread of this address's bamboo cluster, there is very serious concern that the utility pipes, water and gas lines, that run along the easements will be damaged or impinged upon. There is a city policy that overgrowth in yard cannot exceed a height of 8". Some of this bamboo overgrowth is over 15 feet! I love plants and I don't want to have bad relations with my neighbors, but bamboo is a terrifyingly overly successful plant species that belongs in a container. After hearing a story about bamboo on WFIU, I was heartened to learn that there might be some support from the city to help with this very insistent bamboo problem.

On going and unaddressed mold. Crack in the threshold wall resulting in water damage leading into the home. Rental property has not done anything to assist or repair the issue. Personal property is damaged and black mold is persisting under the sink in the kitchen and presumably under the carpet that remains soaked at all time.

1310 Multiple (~10) painted tires piled in the yard. There is an ordinance to prevent this due to the toxins released into our water system by decaying tires.

Multiple problems with the unit. Mold growth, the ceilings leak when it rains. No kickboard underneath one of my kitchen cabinets. No screens in windows. Rats. Upstairs bathroom, knob to turn off and on water sticks out like a mile long. Baseboard of wall upstairs coming off. Light switch in my boys room installed upsidedown. My boys window frame is installed completely wrong. You would just have to see it to understand. Floor is peeling up, that connects my living floor to my kitchen. Which mind you, I try and hide and cover, because they never installed a tack strip. Back door, at the bottom, is depleting. Like it looks like it's eating away at the bottom. I almost can't even put all in this complaint, that is wrong with unit. I would like to have a mold detector done on this unit, to prove that it's probably outrageous. My furnace in the closet was pretty much hand made, with a huge hole in the wall.

I have noticed that past couple of months that there is trash being left or not making it into the dumpster by someone. This is not your normal move out and leave furniture trash. I have been picking it up and dumping it in the trash since it has been drawing animals and insects, and when it rains it washed down into the street. I have included a picture from today. This dumpster does not have an enclosure to make sure trash is mot ending up in the bushes or on the ground and running into the streets or water. Someone in the neighborhood is either missing the dumpster or throwing it next to the dumpster on purpose. There is now broken glass and other dangerous/hazardous items around this dumpster because of it. My observations from the last few weeks of picking it up: The trash will be in plastic or paper grocery bags instead of trash bags. They always have diapers, eaten and uneaten food, canned food opened and unopened, and miscellaneous items like paper, wipes, cardboard, clothing, etc. With it being many instances in broad daylight and where the trash is placed and conditions of the bags, I do not think this is animals dragging the bags from somewhere else. My suspicions are this is a child being send to the dumpster by their parents to throw things out but they cannot reach the height since this is a taller unit. Also, I think it is someone from the granite units at the very ends on the west side of Dorchester, closest to the heritage Dorchester dumpster. First, I have noticed the trash ends up on the ground on the side where the door is closest to the granite units as long as it is open. If it is not, then it is on the other side. Second, I saw kids come from that building and walk to the dumpster and walk around it for a few minutes before they left on Friday. I could see their feet under the carport. I then found a pot with food in it left there when I investigated after they left when there was nothing there earlier. Also, we have valet trash in our units and are expected there use trash bags. I have also seen people from the granite units walk down here and dump their stuff in our trash unit who live on the West side of the street instead of using their own. I have been living here a while and have only recently seen this be a problem where this trash is left outside the bin or haphazardly thrown in there and not picked up when they see it is not in the bin.
