Sewer Problems (Storm Sewers)

3635 S Bainbridge DR

Case Date:
6/17/2019

3635 S. Bainbridge Dr. All three storm inlets during flash flooding events aren't able to keep up with the water demand which then sends water down our driveway. About 3 years ago a third drain was installed to help mitigate the issue but hasn't worked the way it was intended. We left for the weekend for a funeral this past weekend and the drains became clogged which then sent water down our driveway and flooded the basement for the second time this year. First time happened in November due to leaves and the leave pickup program overwhelming our storm inlets. We had a swell put in to mitigate the driveway water and it has worked well. However, when the storm drains clog, the swell is overwhelmed. Please help.

Water flow out of field drain appears o be insufficient.

The small storm water drain at the bottom of the hill on the Southwest corner of Coolidge and Bryan often gets clogged and our home at 2317 S. There is a rainwater drainage ditch and large drain between our yard and our neighbors. During the last few heavy rainstorms, the drain at the end of the ditch stopped draining water, resulting in flooding our yard as well as our neighbors to the south and east. The flooding was at least 3-4 feet deep and spilled into the swale at the side of our house, coming close to our basement windows. We do not know if the drain was backed up, clogged with debris or what happened. However, upon checking the drain today with a landscaper, the drain is filled with water almost to the top....and we have not had recent heavy rain in the last few days. Could someone come to check the drain to see if it needs to be opened / cleaned out or if there is some sort of shut-off valve inside that is not operating and allowing water to drain? I am concerned if we get another heavy downpour that water already standing in this drain will result in major flooding again. We have called the street department about this issue twice, and I understand there is some history with drainage problems in this area of Hyde Park.

Sewer Problems (Storm Sewers)

3601-3709 S Bainbridge Dr, Bloomington, Indiana, 47401

Case Date:
11/27/2019

The storm water drain/inlet in front of our house isn't able to handle to load of rain and debris which runs to it. This morning at 4 am our basement dampness alarm went off and had to go clear the street drains as all the water was running down our driveway from the three storm water drains in front of our house (1 is across the street). We installed a swale two years ago to divert the flow of water for our driveway but it isn't large enough to handle the load of water runoff from the drain inlets in front of our house flowing down our driveway. I attached a picture from this morning after I was out at 4 am cleaning the drains with it clogged again to show the issues. I apologiz I didn't take a picture across the street but if you run by today (11/27) you can see it also is already re-clogged. Any time we have a large downpour I have to clean out the drains or we have flooding in our driveway which backs up at the mouth of the swale then flows into our garage then house. Please HELP!
