My Name is Josh Goodman and I live at 2821 E Tapps Turn, 47401. My gutters drain into an underground drain tile system (pvc pipe) and, as best as I can tell, this system drains east to west, runs under my backyard, and then hooks into the storm sewer (somewhere underground) on the east side of Sare Rd just north of where Buttonwood Rd intersects Sare Rd. I've been having issues for a while with the system backing up causing water to bubble out of the drain tile and down into the ground right next to the house. This tends to only happen during medium to heavy downpours. I had Roto Rooter come out with their pressurized water snake and camera and we cleaned out the entire system up until the point where it enters the storm sewer, but the issue still persists. There was a little bit of debris (leaves, etc.) but nothing that would cause the issue I'm seeing. Would it be possible for someone in the Utility Department to come out to my property to take a look to see if there is anything that can be done on the City's side to remedy this issue? Ms. Aslami left a voice mail on 11/26/13. I returned her call on 11/27/13. She was difficult to understand but I believe she said she has water that comes up from their garage drain when it rains hard and she wants the city to fix it.

Hello. Last year there was a major rainstorm in Bloomington that managed to adversely affect the storm drainage between my house and the next door neighbor. The storm activity managed to wash out a small corner of soil on the other side of the fence. Now any time it rains and thereafter, the ground is fairly wet (puddles) and the corner with missing soil fills up. This water manages to linger for days from outside the fence and through the yard. I'm requesting someone from Stormwater to visit my home on 10 June 2022; any time of day is fine. I ask for this date because I'm off work and we can survey together. This has been an ongoing issue for some time and I'm seeking suitable remedy. I have additional photos to share, however, seeing this in person would be beneficial. We had our basement flood (wet carpet in half the basement) on January 20, 2017 without any previous sign of leakage on that side of the house. The source of the water is unclear, but I'm wondering if the home (built ca. 1973) has a footer drain connected to the storm drain. Kevin Potter is coming out to inspect for structural damage at 2 pm today (1/25/17) The city storm drain was updated within the past two years with the new pipe starting at the down-slope corner of our property. The neighbor two houses up-slope from us discharges a lot of water from his property and had excavation work done near the end of his french drain on the 18th or 19th. Part of this work involved off and onloading a sizeable backhoe in front of our driveway near where the old and new drain pipe would be joined. I'm not sure what work the neighbor had done. In addition to his drainage, the neighbor immediately down slope from us was also draining his pool into the storm drain on what had been a very rainy week. Is it possible to send a city employee out to see whether some combination of these activities has caused the drainage system to fail or otherwise backflow into our house? Thanks!

3635 S. Bainbridge Dr. All three storm inlets during flash flooding events aren't able to keep up with the water demand which then sends water down our driveway. About 3 years ago a third drain was installed to help mitigate the issue but hasn't worked the way it was intended. We left for the weekend for a funeral this past weekend and the drains became clogged which then sent water down our driveway and flooded the basement for the second time this year. First time happened in November due to leaves and the leave pickup program overwhelming our storm inlets. We had a swell put in to mitigate the driveway water and it has worked well. However, when the storm drains clog, the swell is overwhelmed. Please help.

The street drain and field drain on Preston Ct does not appear to be able to properly handle large amounts of rain fall. It is common for both to become overwhelmed, especially the field drain in the back of 3807 Preston Ct. these drains need to be cleaned and inspected for proper sizing. Water flow out of field drain appears o be insufficient.

Thank you Kathleen for updating ticket 175079. This is a follow-up to your update. I do desire to remain anonymous on ureport system. These storm sewers have long been functionally abandoned and really do not act as "ditches" anymore. In fact some of them seem to not have an inlet. It was not so much that that I though they should be "clean out" but more like the sharp metal hazard should be addressed. The exposed tops of at least three culverts have rusted through creating what I consider "sharp rusty hazards". Replacing those culverts (or repairing the rusty sections) is what I was thinking. Or maybe rotating them 180 degrees so the rusty part is down? My concern with the cleanout solution is the neighbors might not like the excavation unless the hazards are removed. I do not think anyone is complaining about the fact the culverts might not be doing much to handle water run off. Again I just walk my dog along Dodds and that is when I spotted the harzards. I do not live at these residences. Thank you again for the consideration.
