Hello - I live up the street from the B-line bridge that crosses over Grimes. What started as one tent has become a full-blown camp, and the conditions have caused me to feel unsafe using that portion of the B-line trail. The last time I used the bridge the urine smell was quite strong and there was a man having a bad trip outside the encampment. We've been awoken by yelling and general disturbance from members of the camp and their dogs, and the general disturbance has caused me and several neighbors with kids to not use that portion of the B-line (not using the Switchyard Park playground and dog park, or driving there instead of walking). It's reached a point that we're uncomfortable - I hope I don't sound unsympathetic to their situation. I don't have a good solution either!

I have been ill with non covid-19 pneumonia and sinus infection for several weeks. I could not have gotten through this period of time if not for the amazing team at Walmart and delivery partners. I know it’s not over but I am feeling so grateful this morning. I am high risk given I’ve been so sick, I’m over weight and I have asthma. They very likely have saved my life. First responders are recognized and given honors by cities all the time so I’m suggesting that someone reach out to or Walmart and all of our local grocery stores at some point so we can bestow some sort of award or honor to these men and women. I’m sure your offices are spread thin right now but at some point I’m the near future I hope this idea will be visited. I would be happy to donate my time any way I can be of use. I am excellent on the phone as I managed a local call center for several years. These workers are not paid well. I believe they need and deserve a huge boost in morale. Local businesses might be willing to give back to them in some way via a discount or free meal etc. Ago at least be acknowledged for the great worth of their hard work and diligence is so very important! Increase in taxes: No more new taxes! The mayor's proposed increase in the optional income tax is nothing but a money grab. Evidence is now coming out as departments are hustling to come up with ideas about how to spend the money, such as housing and transportation in addition to the climate stuff. Bloomington is not and will not change the climate. How about sound good projects and then figure out how to sell them and fund them with the public. How about looking at efficient ways of doing city business? No new taxes!!

Farmers Market Shutdown, I have no idea what threats or racial incivility the Mayor knows exist in the Bloomington farmers market that threaten the community. I don’t know what “the” white supremacists said, did or threatened to do in Bloomington. Did some nut case threaten to drive a truckload of nitrates into the courthouse like a disgruntled landowner did up in Lafayette years ago. If so, arrest them. Lead, don’t cower. If the offense isn’t prosecutable stay calm and carry on with business. Open the Market. Sell veggies...not manure.
