Bloomington, IN -Mayor Mark Kruzan is proud to announce the release of the new City website. The new site has been designed from the ground up including new content and new technical and accessiblity features.

Bloomington's website is online at [http://bloomington.in.gov].

Among the many new features, we are particularly pleased to introduce the new myBloomington web application at [http://bloomington.in.gov/myBloomington]. myBloomington provides location-based information about City services available at individual community addresses. This tool pulls data from the City's GIS system and other data sources to create a unified profile/portal to information about address locations in Bloomington, such as the latitude and longitude of any address, City Council districts and Councilmembers, trash pickup day, nearby road closings, historic sites, parks, public art and more.

Other new content includes...

  • Service-centered organization: [City services|/documentTypes/documents.php?documentType_id=4] are listed throughout the website with most areas prominently displaying related and featured City services.
  • Additional Spanish language content: Many core pages of the website feature Spanish translations to facilitate access by our community's Latino and Spanish-speaking populations. [http://bloomington.in.gov/languages]
  • Significant new arts and economic development content.
  • Enhanced online maps: the location tool at [http://bloomington.in.gov/locations] helps you find City facilities and points of interest in the community using the the Google Maps API.
  • Data Center: We have started populating our Data Center area at [http://bloomington.in.gov/datacenter] with new information including noise violation charts, with more to come.
  • Website content is available in [XHTML|http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/] page output with [RSS|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(protocol)] feeds provided for news and other website content at [http://bloomington.in.gov/feeds#rss]. Our enhanced calendar features downloadable [.ics|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICalendar] standard (iCal) calendars at [http://bloomington.in.gov/feeds#ics]. Location information is available in downloadable [KML format|http://code.google.com/apis/kml/]format for use in [Google Earth|http://earth.google.com/] at [http://bloomington.in.gov/feeds#kml].
