BEAD's July Exhibit to feature Centerstone's The Art of Mental Health

Bloomington, IN - Artwork by and on behalf of individuals who have mental illnesses will be the subject of a display at the Bloomington City Hall, in the glass case in the atrium, during the month of July 2010. The theme of the artwork on display is "This land is our land...American folk art" and will include a variety of subjects, such as landscapes and cityscapes, using a variety of media including decoupage, paint, ceramic and textile. A public reception will take place Thursday, July 15 from 4 to 5:30 pm.

"This is the eleventh year participants in our art exploration group have been able to exhibit works in Bloomington and we are pleased the city is, once again, willing to allow us to do so," said Robin Carrothers, partial hospitalization program specialist at Centerstone. "Many of these artists have not had much opportunity to display their work and are so very delighted to get positive feedback for their efforts."

The exhibit will run July 2-30 in the City Hall Atrium, which is located in the main entrance of the Showers Building at 401 North Morton Street. The exhibition hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, as well as additional evening or weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings. For more information about the exhibit, contact Robin Carrothers at robin.carrothers@centerstone.org.

The City of Bloomington is committed to providing opportunities for Bloomington and area artists to exhibit artwork in the City Hall Atrium.
