Boys and Girls Club 3rd Annual Winter Fine Arts Exhibit at City Hall

BLOOMINGTON, IN - The City of Bloomington will be displaying artwork created by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington Art Program during the months of December and January in the Atrium at City Hall. This exhibit is made possible through support from the Bloomington Arts Commission and the City of Bloomington, and The Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County.

The exhibit will feature work from the theme of "Visions," collaborations with Lotus, and member-made artist trading cards as well as individual long-term projects. For the first time, Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington will feature photographs from their digital photography programs. The show will be juried by local artists, and winners in each age group and medium will be sent to the Boys and Girls Club Regional Fine Arts Competition. Additionally, Mayor Kruzan will award his "Mayor's Choice Award" to his favorite piece.

The mission of the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club is to "enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens." It provides local children with opportunities for growth, recreation and companionship through after school programs, sports programs and camps. General and membership information for the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club is available at [www.bgcbloomington.org].

An opening reception will take place from 6:30-8:30 PM Friday, December 9th in the Atrium of City Hall. The Lincoln Street Boys and Girls Club Choir will perform hits and holiday songs during the reception and light refreshments will be served. The public is invited to attend and meet the artists.

The exhibit will run December 5 through January 31 in the Atrium of City Hall (401 North Morton Street). Exhibition hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm on Monday through Friday, as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings and other events.

The City of Bloomington is committed to providing opportunities for Bloomington and area artists to exhibit artwork in the City Hall Atrium.
