Bloomington, IN - Officials from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources announced earlier this week that they have instituted an emergency rule change for fishing at Griffy Lake.

The City of Bloomington received a federal grant to pay for repairs to the Griffy Lake dam and spillway. To facilitate the repair work, engineers will begin draining the lake in July.

The DNR said in a statement that in order to make best use of the fishery prior to the lowering of the lake, the DNR has removed the largemouth bass size limit and has doubled the daily bag limit for all species, effective May 1. Adults born after April 1, 1943 must possess a valid Indiana fishing license to fish at Griffy Lake.

The emergency rule change for Griffy Lake is effective through December 31, 2012.
