City Hosts Public Workshop to Gather Input for 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan

Bloomington, Ind. – The Bloomington/Monroe County Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMCMPO) is hosting a public workshop to gather input for the 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) on Thursday, September 14 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Monroe County Public Library. Members of the public are invited to share their thoughts and ideas on what the city’s and county’s transportation network should look like in 2040.
 
“Public input is a significant component of the plan’s development,” said Mayor John Hamilton. “We hope people will share their thoughts as the plan looks beyond automobile travel needs to encompass all modes of travel in its evaluation of long-term transportation needs for the region.”
 
The MTP provides a long-range vision of the community’s transportation system and is used as a guide for investing federal transportation funds into the BMCMPO’s jurisdiction, which includes Bloomington, Ellettsville and parts of Monroe County. The MTP is updated every five years to reflect the evolving transportation needs and priorities of the community. An extensive public outreach process is being pursued that will involve planners, businesses, community organizations and residents throughout Bloomington and Monroe County.
 
The public workshop will be held in Room 1C at the Monroe County Public Library, located in Bloomington at 303 E. Kirkwood Avenue.
