City Invites Public to Share Input on Existing Parking Infrastructure

Bloomington, Ind. -  A downtown parking study will kick off this month with public meetings to gather information for an overview of current and projected parking needs for the downtown area. The public is invited to give input about the City’s parking infrastructure at events on Wednesday, December 6, and Thursday, December 7, in Council Chambers at City Hall (401 N. Morton) from 12:30-1:15 p.m. each day. DESMAN Design Management was chosen to conduct the study.

An online survey to gather input from residents and downtown stakeholders will soon be available at https://bloomington.in.gov/transportation/parking/study. This web page will also provide information and updates regarding the parking study.

Various downtown stakeholders, including business owners, the tourism industry, government, retail, restaurants, developers and nonprofit organizations, also are invited to share input on Wednesday, December 6, and Thursday, December 7.  The City’s Planning and Transportation Department has created the following schedule to address concerns unique to various types of organizations:
 

Wednesday, December 6

10:30 a.m.                         Retail and Restaurants

11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.     Monroe County Government officials

12:30 p.m.-1:15 p.m.       General Drop In/Public

2:00 p.m.                           Nonprofits/Non Governmental Organizations

2:30 p.m.                           Downtown Developers

3:00 p.m.                           Tourism

3:30 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.        Open for private meeting requests ~10 minutes/meeting

6:30 p.m.                           City Council
 

Thursday, December 7

9:30 a.m.                            Indiana University officials

10:00 a.m.                          Other Downtown Businesses

10:30 - 11:00 a.m.             Open for private meeting requests ~10 minutes/meeting

12:30 p.m.-1:15 p.m.        General Drop In/Public
 

If unable to attend at the designated time, the public or stakeholders are invited to join at other times throughout the day but may experience a wait time.
