Commission on the Status of Black Males Seeks Nominations for Leader of Tomorrow Awards

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Black Males is seeking nominations for the 2019 Outstanding Black Male Leader of Tomorrow Award, as well as for a new award recognizing the 2019 Outstanding Black Woman Leader of Tomorrow. The deadline for submission of nominations is January 4, 2019.

For both men and women, awards will be presented to one high school student and one adult for outstanding leadership, scholarship, and involvement in making tangible, visible, and meaningful contributions to the Bloomington community. The Commission has presented the Outstanding Black Male Leader of Tomorrow award since 2006.  This year, the CSBM will also present awards to outstanding young Black women in the community.

To be eligible for the high school award, nominees must currently live in Bloomington/Monroe County and be enrolled in high school. To be eligible for the adult award, nominees must currently live in Bloomington/Monroe County and not be older than 30 years of age.

Nomination forms are available online at bloomington.in.gov/csbm-awards or in the City of Bloomington's Community and Family Resources Department, 401 N. Morton St., Suite 260. Nomination forms also can be downloaded and mailed to City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Department, P.O. Box 100, Bloomington, IN 47402.

Nominations must include the name, address, telephone number, and email address of the nominee and an attached letter that describes the personal and leadership characteristics that make the nominee deserving of the award. The name, address, telephone number, and email address of the nominator must also be included.

Outstanding Black Male and Outstanding Black Woman Leader of Tomorrow Award recipients will be honored at the Black History Month Gala on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bloomington.
