Bloomington Transit Launches Summer Break Schedule Monday, June 1

Bloomington, Ind. - Starting Monday, June 1, Bloomington Transit (BT) will begin operating most routes on a summer break schedule, with several important changes.  Please note the following features of this summer’s schedule:

  • Typical start times vary by route between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays.  Details are available at the summer break schedule posted beside each route at the BT website.

  • Night service will end at approximately 9:35 p.m. with the last buses leaving downtown on Routes 1, 2, 3, and 4 at 9:10 p.m. and Route 5 at 8:40 p.m.

  • Routes 6 Campus Shuttle and 9 IU Campus will operate a single bus on weekdays at 80- and 40-minute frequencies respectively.  6 Limited and 9 Limited service will not be offered during the summer break.

  • As in the past, Route 7 service will not be provided during the summer break.

  • Routes will operate on normal summer break weekend schedules.

  • BT Access service will operate normally with first pickups at 6 a.m. and last drop-offs at 9:50 p.m. on weekdays.

BT will continue to implement the following protocols to promote physical distancing and protect public health and safety:

  • The fixed-route and BT Access routes will continue to operate fare-free in June.

  • Rear-door boarding will continue on fixed-route service.

  • The Downtown Transit Center ticket window will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 6:15 a.m. to 9 p.m. for general information, and for ticketing for Miller Transportation service outside of Bloomington.

  • The indoor passenger waiting area and restrooms will remain closed to the public, and portable restrooms will remain available in the outdoor transit plaza area.

  •  The Grimes Lane Administrative offices are expected to open to the public in mid-June after the installation of protective barriers.

Fixed service and BT access routes will not offer service on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

Bloomington Transit is the Public Transportation Corporation for the City of Bloomington.  A fixed-route service is provided on nine routes serving most areas of the City.  Bloomington Transit also offers BT Access, a specialized service available to persons with disabilities who are unable to use regular fixed-route services.  More information on Bloomington Transit services including BT Access is available at the BT website or by phone at 336-RIDE (7433).
