The City of Bloomington to Host 6th Annual Black y Brown Arts Festival this Saturday

The City of Bloomington will host the 6th Annual Black y Brown Arts Festival on Sat. Sept. 14, 2024, at the Switchyard Park Pavilion and Grand Stage, located at 1601 S. Rogers St. The event, organized by the city's Safe and Civil City Programs and the Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs, aims to celebrate and showcase the contributions of artists of color through visual and performing arts.

The festival will begin at 10 a.m. with an arts market in the Switchyard Park Pavilion, featuring a variety of works by local artists, including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and jewelry. Starting at 12:30 p.m., performances will take place on the Grand Stage, with a lineup that includes the African American Dance Company, Matixando, and Peyton Womock & Friends.

In addition to the art and performances, attendees can expect food vendors, interactive art activities, and booths offering community information. The festival is free and open to the public, creating a family-friendly environment where people of all backgrounds can engage with and appreciate the artistic contributions of Black and Brown artists in the community.
