City of Bloomington to Host Annual National Million Father March at Fairview Elementary School

The City of Bloomington will host the National Million Father March on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at Fairview Elementary School, 500 W. 7th Street.

The event is organized locally by the City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Black Males and is part of a nationwide initiative led by Fathers Incorporated. The Million Father March encourages fathers, father figures, and male mentors to accompany students to school during the first week of the academic year.

Shatoyia Moss, City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Director, shared:"The Million Father March is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we show up for our children. When fathers and mentors walk through those school doors, they’re not just offering presence—they’re planting seeds of confidence, safety, and belonging. This moment reinforces to students that their community believes in them and is committed to walking alongside them in their educational journey."

Volunteers of all backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to participate—you do not have to be a Black male to support this event. To sign up or learn more, visit the Commission on the Status of Black Males webpage at bloomington.in.gov/csbm
