City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Black Males to Host Annual Youth Summit

The City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Black Males is announces its upcoming Youth Leadership Summit, taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11 at Bloomington City Hall, 401 N. Morton St.

The Summit is designed to engage and empower middle and high-school-aged, male-identifying students. The event will feature speakers, workshops, and community-building opportunities centered around leadership, education, and personal growth.

Registration is free and students who register will be excused from class to attend.

While the programming is tailored toward African American and Latino male-identifying students, all are welcome to participate in this enriching event.

The program will feature an emceed panel discussion with Patrick D. Smith, PhD, Executive Director of Mentoring Services and Leadership Development at Indiana University. 

Panelists include:

  • Adrian Parker, PhD, Chief Engineer of Missile Energy Systems - Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane)

  • Kelin Mark, Middle School Director – Park Tudor Middle School, Indianapolis 

  • Thomas X. Williams, Author and Motivational Speaker
