BEAD to Exhibit Works by Diversity Competition Award Winners

BLOOMINGTON, IN-Winning essays and artwork from the annual Bloomington Human Rights Commission's Diversity Competition will be displayed in the Atrium of City Hall through March 31.

Students in grades 1-8 were asked to write an essay or create a piece of artwork in response to the question "Why I care about Diversity". Judges chose pieces as winners, and prizes were awarded to the top three submissions for each age level.

The exhibit is part of an ongoing effort to promote the importance of diversity in the local community. The City of Bloomington considers diversity a source of strength which adds to Bloomington's community character. This exhibit is one of the many programs created by the Bloomington Human Rights Commission, which was designed to enforce Bloomington's Human Rights Ordinance. For more information on the Bloomington Human Rights Commission, please visit http://bloomington.in.gov/bhrc.

The exhibit will run March 2 to March 31 in the Atrium of City Hall at 401 North Morton Street. The exhibition hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm on Monday through Friday, as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings.

The City of Bloomington is committed to providing opportunities for Bloomington and area artists to exhibit artwork in the City Hall Atrium.
