Boys and Girls Club Annual Winter Fine Arts Exhibit at City Hall

BLOOMINGTON, IN - The City of Bloomington will be displaying artwork created by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington Art Program during the months of December and January in the atrium of Bloomington City Hall. This exhibit is made possible through support from the Bloomington Community Arts Commission and the City of Bloomington, The Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County and a National Fine Arts Grant from Rockefeller Philanthropic. Works will include drawings, paintings, watercolors, mixed media, sculpture and collaborative projects involving many Club members. The show will be juried and will send pieces on to the Regional Boys and Girls Club Fine Arts Exhibit after its conclusion.

The mission of the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club is to "enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens." It provides local children with opportunities for growth, recreation and companionship through after school programs, sports programs and camps. General and membership information for the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club is available at www.bgcbloomington.org.

An opening reception for the exhibit will be Friday, December 3 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. The exhibit will run December and January in the Atrium of City Hall at 401 North Morton Street. The exhibition hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm on Monday through Friday, as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings and other events.

The City of Bloomington is committed to providing opportunities for Bloomington and area artists to exhibit artwork in the City Hall Atrium. For more information on the exhibition program, contact Miah Michaelsen, Assistant Economic Development Director for the Arts, at michaelm@bloomington.in.gov or (812) 349-3534.
