City Hall Atrium to feature photography of the Buskirk-Chumley Theater

BLOOMINGTON, IN-Through the month of November, photographs of the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, taken by seven professional Bloomington photographers, will be on exhibit in the atrium of Bloomington City Hall. The exhibit, entitled Two Years at Bloomington's Community Theater, consists of fifteen photographs that show the arts and community involvement at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater.

Two Years at Bloomington's Community Theater invites the general public to take a peek into the variety of events, concerts and performances at the historic theater through the lens of photographers Michael Trace, Michael LaFleur, Levi Thomas, Ann Schertz, Ryan Dorgan and Paula M. Grez.

The exhibit is part of an ongoing effort to archive activity at the facility. Buskirk-Chumley Theater Management, Inc., the management company that operates the theater for the City of Bloomington is actively collecting photographs and mementos to document the theater's history. Photos can be posted on the Buskirk-Chumley Theater Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Buskirk-Chumley-Theater, sent electronically to marketing@buskirkchumley.org (resolution >300 DPI) or dropped off at the BCT Box Office during office hours. Originals will be scanned and returned promptly.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Buskirk-Chumley Theater is a renovated silent movie house located in downtown Bloomington, Indiana. Available for public or private events, the Spanish Mission Revival style theater plays host to 200 events each year, organized by 50 different community organizations. The theater also operates the BCT Box Office, located at the theater on 114 E Kirkwood Avenue. The BCT Box Office offers tickets to all major events and venues in Bloomington, event and visitor information, and books and CD's by local authors and artists. The BCT Box Office can be reached by phone on 812.323.3020. Check www.buskirkchumley.org for event details and Buskirk-Chumley Theater history.

The exhibit will run November 5 - December 3 in the Atrium of City Hall at 401 North Morton Street. The exhibition hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm on Monday through Friday, as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings.
