Bloomington, Ind. - The [City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department|parks] announced today that Mark Miller has joined the City team as Aquatics/Fitness Coordinator. Miller will manage both Bryan Park and Mills Pool during the summer months, and will coordinate group exercise classes as part of the senior management team at the [Twin Lakes Recreation Center|tlrc] from September through April.

"We are pleased to welcome Mark to Parks and Recreation," said Mick Renneisen, Director of the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department, which oversees the management of Bryan Park and Mills Pools as well as the Twin Lakes Recreation Center. "Mark worked for our department for seven seasons at the pools, first as a lifeguard then as a pool manager. He is intimately familiar with the day-to-day operations at the pools, and his additional work experiences running aquatics facilities in other states made him an exceptional candidate for the position."

Miller comes from Conway, S.C., where he spent the past 1½ years as the Coordinator of Aquatics for Coastal Carolina University Campus Recreation. Prior to that, he worked as a graduate assistant in aquatics and safety at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.

"The choice to come back to Bloomington was an easy one for my wife and me," Miller said. "Having worked for Parks and Recreation, I knew this position would be a great fit. I feel at home here, even though the first couple of weeks, with the opening of both pools for the summer, were long. Working for the City Parks and Recreation Department enables me to give back to the community and to program for the community. I have a heart for service and working for Parks gives me the opportunity to serve."

Both Bryan Park Pool and Mills Pool opened for the 2014 season on Memorial Day weekend. Bryan Park Pool, 1020 S. Woodlawn Ave., is open daily from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Mills Pool, 1100 W. 14th St., is open daily from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Admission fee for both pools is $4 for adults and $3 for youth ages 17 years and younger.
