Housing and Neighborhood Development to Host Informational Meeting for Community Development Block Grant Program

The City of Bloomington’s Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) Department will host an informational meeting to discuss the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program on Wednesday, September 13 at 9:00 a.m. in the McCloskey Room at City Hall (401 N. Morton St.). Any potential applicants who hope to receive funding during the Fiscal Year 2018 grant cycle are strongly encouraged to attend.

The CDBG entitlement program allocates annual grants to larger cities and urban counties to develop viable communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and occasions to expand economic opportunities, principally for low-income and moderate-income families.

The City of Bloomington bifurcates its program into Social Service and Physical Improvement funding streams. Interested residents are welcome to attend the September 13 meeting.

Additional chances for resident participation in the grant process exist through service on the CDBG Funding Citizens Advisory Committee. To apply for a seat on this committee, please visit bloomington.in.gov/onboard/applicants/apply?committee_id=51.
