City of Bloomington Utilities Announces Fire Hydrant Maintenance Schedule for October 2 through October 6

During the week of October 2 through October 6, crew members from M.E. Simpson, fulfilling the obligations of a contract signed with the City of Bloomington Utilities, will flow (flush) and perform necessary maintenance on fire hydrants inside the area bordered by the roads listed below:

  • North Boundary: East Moores Pike

  • South Boundary: East Rhorer Road

  • East Boundary: South High Street

  • West Boundary: East Smith Road

Signage will be displayed in the affected areas on the day the fire hydrant maintenance is taking place.

The weekly fire hydrant maintenance schedule is subject to change if a day's work is not completed as scheduled, or if inclement weather should occur.

Customers may experience fluctuations in pressure and/or discoloration of their water during hydrant flowing.  A customer experiencing discolored water should run their cold water tap until it clears.  A customer experiencing discolored water is advised to postpone washing clothes and limit their use of hot water until the cold water clears.
