Temporary Road Closure at the Intersection of S College Ave. and W 2nd St.
The City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) will begin sewer infrastructure improvements near the intersection of South College Avenue and West 2nd Street starting Sunday, August 3, 2025.
The project will proceed in two phases to minimize disruption for nearby residents and businesses. These improvements are part of CBU’s ongoing efforts to modernize Bloomington’s sewer infrastructure and ensure long-term reliability.
Phase 1: CBU crews will fully close the intersection of S College Ave. and W 2nd St. from Sunday, August 3 at 8:00 p.m. through Monday, August 4 at 6 a.m. During this overnight closure, crews will upgrade the sewer main before reopening the intersection by early Monday morning.
Phase 2: Beginning Monday, August 4 at 6 a.m., W 2nd St. will be closed from the B-Line Trail to S College Ave. for continued sewer line improvements. This phase is expected to last through Friday, August 15, weather permitting. Access to Kroger and Wendy’s will remain open via S College Ave.
Final paving and full reopening of W 2nd St. are anticipated by August 15, pending weather and field conditions.
CBU appreciates the community’s patience and understanding during this important infrastructure upgrade. These temporary disruptions are critical to ensuring reliable service.
