About Safety Week Events
The City of Bloomington’s Safety Week will run August 22-28 as part of the ongoing Safe Streets and Roads for All Action Plan - an initiative to improve transportation options and create a safer and more accessible Bloomington.
Safety Week features a series of events designed to gather resident feedback, foster community collaboration, and gather community members together. The week will feature three evening social events open to all residents, offering free food, prizes, and activities for participants of all ages. The schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.: Welcome Week Community Bike Tour - a safe and slow group ride teaching new and existing residents safe bike routes around Bloomington starting and ending on IU’s campus
- Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.: The Chocolate Moose, 405 S. Walnut St. - free ice cream for participants
- Thursday, August 27, from 5 to 7 p.m.: Kidical Mass: Back to School Bike Ride and Celebration - a bike-themed back to school bike ride and celebration with treats, games, and more before a slow and safe bike around around the Bryan Bike neighborhood
In addition to the evening slate of events, the City will host pop-up booths at several locations throughout the city. Neighbors are invited to stop by for a brief, interactive survey question.
