Taste Your Way Through 15 Apple Varieties at Free Apple Tasting Oct. 3
Bloomington, Ind.–How does a Winter Banana compare with an Arkansas Black? Is a Mutsu sweeter than a Gold Rush? Find out at the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market’s annual Apple Tasting Saturday, Oct. 3.
The free tasting takes place from 9 a.m. until noon, or while supplies last, on Fernandez Plaza at the Saturday Market, 401 N. Morton St. in downtown Bloomington. Visitors can sample more than 15 locally grown apple and pear varieties from familiar favorites to heirloom varieties rarely found in grocery stores.
Apple varieties available for tasting include:
- Arkansas Black
- Asian Pear
- Blushing Gold
- Brastar
- Crimson Crisp
- Galarina
- Gold Rush
- Golden Delicious
- Granny Smith
- Mutsu

The tasting is free, and no registration is required. Visitors can sample the varieties side by side, compare flavors and textures, and discover a new favorite, whether a crisp, tart apple for baking or a sweet, juicy apple for snacking.
