Changing the Way We Age

The Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department and partner IU Health Bloomington Hospital present the annual 50+ Expo May 13 from 3 until 6 p.m. at the Twin Lakes Recreation Center, 1700 W. Bloomfield Rd. Admission is free.

For more than 45 years, the 50+ Expo has been the community's premier showcase of businesses and organizations whose products and services are geared toward baby boomers, seniors, caregivers, and their friends and families.

"We have heard from both visitors and exhibitors about the types of things they're looking for at our event, so we have incorporated activities and exhibitors that have universal appeal," said Bill Ream, 50+ Expo coordinator. "'Changing the way we age' is a theme of this year's expo, which is why we've included displays for active, engaged retirees, and exhibitors whose services are geared toward seniors and caregivers."

  • The Bloomington Police Department will be at the 50+ Expo to collect unwanted or expired medications for disposal.
  • Community clubs representing music, creative building, recreation, and leisure have their own display area at the expo.
  • Exhibitors throughout the expo will offer free wellness screenings.

Free parking is available in the Twin Lakes Recreation Center and Twin Lakes Sports Park parking lots. Safe, convenient parking shuttles provide door-to-door transportation between the parking lot and the TLRC.
