Hello, Bloomington Parks and Recreation volunteers:

When you register to volunteer with a Parks and Recreation event or service project, you will be prompted to create an account in CERVIS, our volunteeer management system, if you are not already in our system. If you have any questions about this process, or if you're having trouble registering for an event or project, please email parksvol@bloomington.in.gov.

  • Registration for most events will open approximately 6—8 weeks before the event date.

  • When you register to volunteer for an event or service project, you should receive a confirmation email promptly—please read these emails carefully, as they will often have additional, more detailed information about the volunteer opportunity (i.e. parking, meetup location, etc). If you do not receive a confirmation, or if you register but do not have an email address and have questions about your volunteer registration, please call 812.349.3700 or email parksvol@bloomington.in.gov for assistance.

We look forward to working with you, and thank you for your service to the Bloomington community!

Court-Ordered Community Service

Depending on the time year, there are a couple ways to complete your mandated service hours. You may volunteer for one-day service opportunities that are already scheduled and listed above. Alternatively, you may volunteer with an assigned area through parks - This may include maintaining parks, facilities, or gardens. This may also include clerical work or program preparation. IMPORTANT: Please note that you MUST complete the following form AND receive notice that you have passed your background check before volunteering for court-ordered community service. If you volunteer for an event before filling out the form and receiving notice that you have passed your background check, your hours WILL NOT COUNT towards your service requirement. Click here to request an assigned area for Court Ordered Community Service.
