The Commission on Hispanic and Latiné Affairs works to identify and research the issues which impact the Hispanic and Latiné populations in Bloomington, especially in the areas of health, education, public safety and cultural competency.
The Commission's responsibilities include:
- Develop action committees addressing the challenges of members of the Hispanic and Latiné populations in the areas of education, health, employment and public safety
- Serve as a catalyst to promote positive public and private remedies to the multi-faceted issues confronting Latinos and Hispanics in our community and the resulting effects on the entire community
- Network with like-minded groups and local organizations to share ideas and information and to collaborate on projects where appropriate
- Celebrate Latiné and Hispanic history and contributions to the Bloomington community and in the United States

All Commission meetings are open to the public and are held the last Wednesday of every month at 5:30pm in the Hooker conference room at City Hall

CHLA 2024 Report
The Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs aims to address the needs of Hispanic and Latino communities by creating platforms for diverse stakeholder groups to hear these underrepresented voices.
Hispanic Heritage Month
La Fiesta del Otoño is supported by the City of Bloomington’s Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs and the Community and Family Resources Department Latino Programs. During the event, attendees have the chance to experience traditional ethnic performances, listen to live regional music and purchase Latine food from our food trucks.
Encuesta sobre el Acceso a Servicios de Traducción en la Atención Médica

IU Credit Union College Scholarship
Through the generous support of the IU Credit Union, the Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs is pleased to award one scholarship for $1,500. Recipient will be selected based on academic excellence, community involvement, and financial need.
