Folks frequently use the shoulder here as a makeshift turn lane but it is full of potholes and not well-suited for this purpose. A dedicated turn lane would greatly help improve throughput during busy times when the light is very short. There is ample room to expand, and it appears that the lots already belong to DOT and the Indiana DNR. Resolution: Thank you for contacting the Indiana Department of Transportation. Our Traffic Investigations Engineer has reported a turn lane would require widening with full-depth pavement and utility relocation.
