I regret having to reach out to you regarding this bus #1372.  I boarded this bus on the East route of Route 3 this morning at approximately 7:22 AM on February 19, 2024.  I was informed by Mike Clark of Bloomington Transportation who is the operating manager, that the heater was working on that previous checked bus. Yet the heater is either not on, broken or the driver does not knbow how or desire to turn on the heater for the passenger. Furhter more, she informed me that the door heater was on, but that they do not work on some of the buses, as was the case on this bus this morning. There is no need to make passengers suffer like this.  The bus was NOT cold because of opening & closing the doors as MIke Clark previously suggested when I wrote to him regarding this bus.  The heat was simply not coming out of the overhead vents, there was only cold at the vents & the poles for holding onto were cold as well, indicating it had not been on for some time.  The dispatch operator's boss informed me begrudgingly that the bus was in fact bus #1372.  Since the dispatch operator could not be bothered to assist the driver in operating the heater that was alleged to be operating properly according to Mike Clark, I am forced to issue this complaint to the you the City of Bloomington government for heat on the buses in the Winter to be turned on & operating properly for the buses that do not have a heating system functioning or for the bus drivers who feel that we do not need the heat in the Winter. I boarded your bus #1372 at about 7:22 AM heading East on the #3 route this morning, February 16, 2024. I noticed the strong presence of diesel exhaust fumes on the bus & notified the driver. He informed me that that was just the way it is. I told him that I ood not think that we passengers are supposed to be breathing exhaust fumes. He said that it is a normal part of the regenerative process. I explained to him that we are not supposed to be breathing in exhaust fumes. I asked him if he should radio the issue in to dispatch. He explained that there was nothing that he could do about it, that it was a normal part of the regenerative process. When I arrived home & called dispatch, I was told the same thing. Tehn when I was still concerned that this was not supposed to be happening, she passed me onto her boss. I then was also connected to a man in dispatch. He too told me that it was a normal part of the regenerative process. I then asked him, so, you are supposed to be breathing in exhaust fumes while on the bus? Only then did he say that he would have maintenance take a look at it. However, I have heard this before & they have in the past disregarded this concern & let the bus run with exhaust fumes. I do not beleive that we tax-paying citizens should have to put up with busses gassing us like we are in a WWII Natzi Contentration camp getting gassed becouse our lives do not matter. There is never an excuse to expose a passengers to this and in fact, upon being notified by a passenger, the driver should have to pull the bus over, empty the bus of passengers to prevent carbon monoxide poisening & have us wait for a bus replacement or for the issue to get fixed, before reboarding a bus. I have sent a letter to the EPA about this going on for 20-years as I can recall & treating pasengers this way, as though we should not have an issue with disel-exhaust fumes being inhaled into out lungs while riding as a passenger.

An unknown individual has slept in the bus stop shelter for the past week. The area surrounding the shelter has litter scattered about consistently. I do not know if the litter is from this individual. It's a health hazard.

I took the #3 east bus on Friday, 12/10, to the mall. Passengers were smoking as they waited for a bus. Staff walked by them and did nothing. On the bus, there was only one audio message; it said we were passing Wonderlab but we were going east on Third, not near Wonderlab. The written direction notice also had west side bus stops even though we were going east. On my way back to town on the 1:40 bus, the written messages were right but there were no audio announcements. I believe this violates the ADA. Thank you

I would like to know how to get a complaint against the Bloomington Transit center resolved. I have complained in person and left voicemails to customer service (they never answer the phone). The treatment I have received from one of their employees is wrong and inexcusable. I also have been treated very unfairly in regards to submitting these complaints. I am unsure of how else to proceed to receive resolve of this issue.

The bus stop sign along S. Sare Road at E. Buttonwood Lane has apparently been hit by a car at some point in the past and it’s leaning slightly back. Can it be pulled upright or replaced? I tried pulling on it myself, but couldn’t get it straight up. Thanks for your help!

Part 3 of my complaint. Last night Officer Skelton would not show up as requested to observe Randy's driving, suggesting that I video it and give a copy to the managers of the bus company. I explained they already know and are making excuses. He still didn't show. I Ieft a message for Ofcr Crider to call me. He was on a run but NEVER called me back. HELP.

Part 2 of my complaint (I thought I'd have more room to give details.) (1) Bloomington Transit bus driver Randy turned the corner into the Transit Center so fast I fell from the side seat to the floor and my bags fell from the seat too. I landed on my feet. Randy didn't say anything. When I was exiting, I said, "I fell - I could have gotten hurt!" and HE SAID NOTHING. Not an apology - NOTHING. He obviously didn't care. This happened months ago and was reported to Eli McCormick, Customer Service Manager, when it happened. (2) Since then Randy has made ridiculous complaints to me when I get on the bus - all these have been reported to Eli M and I've asked him to preserve the videos from those incidents. (3) Randy is getting more and more dangerous, and now swerves right at me in front of the main library on Kirkwood when he sees me there. He drives too fast and heads RIGHT AT ME! No other driver in town is doing this, nor has done this, in the 3 1/2 years I've lived here. I've seen him stop in the street and not even swerve right into the stopping lane when he doesn't see me and other passengers are waiting there. On January 31st, he drove at me fast and Eli said, "We've reviewed that video... you were on the curb, and we don't feel that's a problem." Eli said another manager analyzed him before that, and said he was going 18 miles an hour on approach. Other drivers have told me 10-15 mph is reasonable. On February 5 he aimed right for me and when I didn't move he wailed on the horn. When I got on, he said, "You're not supposed to stand in the street!" I said, "I wasn't in the street - I was in the parking lane - and YOU'RE not supposed to aim for people who are STANDING STILL!" I've told Eli to preserve this video and I have to request it at the City Legal Department. I filed Police Report #B1905058 with Officer Crider, Badge #1369 that night. Randy is dangerous, vindictive, childish, and a LIABILITY for Bloomington Transit and this city! I don't see why Eli M and that company don't understand that.
