paint on the speed bumps has faded along Longview and the speed bumps are difficult to see. It would be great if they could be repainted. Really all of Longview needs repaving, but I know that isn't happening this year and it would be helpful if the painting could happen sooner rather than later to increase the visibility of those bumps.
There was a collision today between a car and a bus at the intersection of 11th and Diamond Streets. The car was unable to see around the large building at the southwest corner, and pulled out in front of a fast-moving bus. A similar thing happened several years ago between two passenger vehicles which resulted in a collision with the house on the southeast corner (see picture). With the new development at Moravec Way, this intersection is getting much more use over the past few years. I would appreciate if a traffic study could be conducted to determine if some kind of traffic calming, such as a speed hump, would be appropriate to install on the west side of this intersection.
N College Ave crosswalk next to CVS is just a standard crosswalk and I go down this street everyday home from work and it's very dangerous. I usually drive in the left lane because right lane has more potholes. I see pedestrians crossing this street and cars do not stop. I will stop in left lane for pedestrian but right lane does not see person crossing and has to slow down quickly. Would be nice if we can get a crosswalk that alerts drivers like the one on South Walnut Street. My fear is that someone will get struck by a car crossing this street. Today someone crossed I stopped for them and right lane car next to me almost hit them driving fast down this lane. I hope this can be taken into serious consideration. I have speeding cars using my street (East Park Lane) as a shortcut from/to Smith Rd to 3rd St/Pete Ellis. This will only get worse when the new IU hospital opens. We have new families with children walking and biking this street. There isn't a sidewalk and this isn't about the amount of traffic. It is a road psychology issue. An example: delivery and lawn-care trucks w/trailers use out street to avoid the speedbumps on Morningside and Longview. Thank you for your attention.
"Head start" for pedestrians. Use the NYC trick, give walkers a 7 second head start before turning the light green. This intersection, the one on the bypass and 10th, and the Kirkwood Walnut crosswalk are just 3 places drivers ignore pedestrians as they only look at cars so they can make right turns. Please. They're going to run us over. Look at Saturdays NYtimes.
Has the city considered installing a protected bike lane on 3rd street? Particularly between Jordan Ave and Indiana Ave. I just drove by and there were TWO Semi-tractor trailers parked in the lane and a sedan parked in the lane. It really reflects poorly on the city that you put in useless white paint and nothing to actually protect people from vehicles. I never bother to use the bike lanes for this reason, you never know when you'll have to keep re-entering vehicle traffic.
Southbound on Dunn, at 6th St: tree needs trimming, stop sign obscured
Sign indicating turn and reflective lights desperately needed. Two cars have gone of road at this same turn in last two months. Woman was trapped for over 24 hours on over incident. Second incident took down a utility pole which is still down.
