Attn Phil/ and ED, I have doubts a foot more will be deep enough. I have heard the roar of racing water in my backyard. It has moved some of the 30 to 40 pound stones I have placed to slow the erosion. Please consider a deep ditch. Thanks
During Sunday storm, water runoff on Madison Street between 6th & 7th flooded into my commercial space (212 N Madison). It climbed a foot up the exterior of the building and flooded comletely to the back of the building, jeopardizing thousands of dollars in equipment and stock. It appears that the sidewalk tips toward the building, and so that once the water crests over the sidewalk, it is pushed into our space. It seems to me that the issue with the sidewalk is the city's. Further, I wonder if there is anything that can be done to ensure the functioning of the sewer, which is the problem at the base of the flooding issue. I know two other spaces on that block also flooded. I don't have a photo, but can secure one from my landlord if needed. Many thanks for looking into this. Jane
A small stream feeding into Jackson Creek at Childs Elementary School smells like chlorine - like the stream is a drained swimming pool. The stream is at approximately these coordinates: 39.138140, -86.505298 on Google maps. That is on the east side of Jackson Creek (across the bridge), on the SE border of the playground area.
On the southeast corner of the intersection at Woodlawn and Maxwell, runoff from the yard on that corner is causing significant ice accumulation on the road. It's impossible to pull up properly to the stop sign going north without veering into the middle of Woodlawn. I have lived on Maxwell for more than 20 years and don't recall seeing this problem before. There is a fire hydrant on the corner of the property, so perhaps this is the source of the water?
at "auto glass" business at 2521 w 3rd st, this morning there was a large steady stream of water onto sidewalk even though it wasnt raining. so probably a broken pipe. please check on this or it will become a hazard for pedestrians when the temp crashes soon & it will freeze. thanks
Water form the neighborhood is flowing into my yard causing floods and interior damage once saturated. I have a lot of video evidence. I am trying to repair damage on my own, but I can't keep up.
Our neighborhood has had major issues with storm water for several years now, and we'd like to have someone come assess the area to see if there is a breakdown in the storm drain system in this area. The flooding issue begins between 3525 E. Third St. and 3520 E. Park Ln., and builds to the west along the property lines. During times of heavy rain (like we had over the weekend), many of the neighborhood back yards become flooded, and water tends to sit for several days afterwards. I'm sorry I didn't get a picture of the water during the rains yesterday, but will work to submit one during the next rainfall. There appears to be a perfectly adequate stormwater drain in front of 3508 E. Park Ln, but there doesn't appear to be a ditch that will carry the water from between our homes to that stormwater drain. Some help would be greatly appreciated, as we have had water backup in our basement in years past from this issue. Thanks very much for your prompt attention and help. The stormwater runoff inlets at the intersection of Parkway and Middle Court are insufficient to support the amount of stormwater runoff from the entire length of Parkway. This causes flooding at the intersection of Middle Court and Westwood. We need additional to increase the number inlets along the entire length of Parkway in order to alieviate this problem. Mr. Peden has been apprised of this problem. However, acquiring sufficient funding from the City has not been forthcoming.
I submitted an erosion/drainage issue behind my house (2201 E. Autumn Dr. Bloomington IN 47401). Someone from City called and left a message for me saying that it is on private property therefore City will not take care of it. I showed it to several other folks and in their opinion, it is City's responsibility since the rainwater pipe is the one causing the damage. I am not sure if your site visitors went to the location to verify this. The rain water from the entire neighborhood comes through this pipe and ends in the creek. I am attaching a picture with this form so that you can take a look at it.If the site visitor wants to visit again, this is happening in between (the back of ) houses 2201 and 2200.
There is a continuous large puddle that exists on City property (east side of Lincoln just north of 12th Street). This area needs to be filled/regraded ASAP.
