It is increasingly difficult to exit the Blue Ridge neighborhood at the main entrance/exit at North Walnut. Traffic has increased and is going at a dangerous speed on North Walnut.
With the closure of Tapp Road intersection due to I-69 construction, a lot of traffic has been diverted on to the Tapp and Rockport Road intersection. Due to this there is a severe need for a traffic light at this intersection since now in the morning rush hour there is a long traffic backup on Rockport road towards coming into the city at the Tapp intersection. It would help if there was a four way traffic light added on this street so that it would help with the traffic pattern. -Concerned Citizen
Hello, I am re-developing the property @ 3000 South Walnut. The location is where the former Southern Winds Hotel and Roosters club were located. The property at the beginning a workout facility and a chiropractors office. AS you pull out from the property and are going to turn left (North) and cross traffic, there are two trees located to the north on the side of the road. When cars are coming South and I am turning to the North, it is difficult to see whats coming and that is where the speed limit changes from 30 to 40mph, which is the place many seems to start speeding up. We will have more traffic than ever entering and leaving the property right from the beginning and even more as the property continues to be redeveloped overtime after the initial building and business's are active. A stop light right around there of course would be superb for the property but probably could never happen due to the traffic that occur that comes over the hill when people are traveling South down South Walnut. With that in mind I was hoping the two large trees could be taken down so it is much safer at that point because of the visibility that would open up. One tree is directly in from of the property and the other is directly in front on an older apartment complex that has around 10 apartments in it, it looks like. Would this be possible? Or maybe we could plant a couple new tress which would be much smaller and take several years to grow out? Of course that problem would show up again several years from now but it would take care of it presently for sevevral years. I am just worried about such a great new area being redeveloped for the area and future to have potential traffic issues with people being able to see when pulling out of the property. Turns onto 3rd street from Overhill Drive are very, very dangerous! It is basically a turn into a 5 lane road. I was going southbound on Overhill Drive making a left turn onto 3rd, but I was unable to see incoming traffic from eastbound 3rd street which was being blocked by cars stopped at the stoplight on westbound 3rd st. They frequently have to slow down to let me in and sometimes I have to swerve my car into the center lane to avoid an accident. The problem with that though is that sometimes westbound people on 3rd street wanting to turn left on Woodcrest Drive speed through the middle lane and almost crash into me while I am turning left onto 3rd street. It seems like the connection between Overhill Drive and 3rd street should be blocked off because there is no traffic light onto the 5 lane road which has high traffic, and due to the stoplight at 3rd/Woodcrest, all the stopped vehicles are blocking the view of oncoming traffic.
I am requesting speed bumps for Covenanter Drive, between College Mall Road and Clarizz Blvd. This is residential area with two large apartment complexes. It's also a heavily traveled road for buses, bikes and vehicles, as well, as pedestrians. Many use it as a way to cut through the area or to reach nearby apartment complexes, the mall, the large Kroger, or medical offices. Speeding is a concern. Line of sight can also be issue with two bus stops, curbside parking, the road's curve and change in elevation. I think speed bumps would help the issue, just like it has done on Covenanter Drive, going west from College Mall to High Street.
Why did you change the traffic flow of this roundabout? It use to flow very smooth. I drive northbound on Sare each day, and now that you have changed the flow, I wait each morning at the roundabout. When school starts, it will be a mess. When those apartments fill up and the rest of the Lakes is build, it will be much, much worse. Please consider changing it back to the way it was. Someone has too much time on their hands to change things like this, or else you have faulty data. It would have been nice if you asked for public comments before you changed it.
There are several sidewalk cuts along Washington Street in front of the AT&T building that are covered with smooth metal pieces. These metal covers provide absolutely no traction when wet and are very dangerous for pedestrians. Can these please be replaced with the more common covers that have raised ridges to provide some traction?
Please place a stop sign at 7th and Hillsdale. It would prevent speeding in the neighborhood and help the bikers on the trail to cross safely.
Hi. After witnessing my third or fourth car accident in the past six months at the exact same intersection (when walking on the sidewalk every time), I would like to request the installation of a traffic light at Longview and Pete Ellis. This intersection, only two minutes from my house, is undeniably dangerous and (I am 99% positive) fatal at least once. The faster traffic on Pete Ellis doesn't have a stop sign, so when cars on Longview turn, it is hard for them to detect those fast vehicles. I have almost been hit crossing the street it is that bad. Today, December 22nd, a friend of mine was seriously hurt in an accident at that intersection.Despite the costs of a traffic light and the work it will entail, I do not want to risk my life and my friends' lives and the lives of other citizens anymore. I might send an additional, more detailed letter to the mayor if this does not go through. I sincerely hope you consider this proposal. Thank you.
You all changed the path and direction of northbound traffic at the roundabout at Sare and Rogers. As a result, traffic is backed up each morning and people are almost running into each other. Why the change? After all this time you just decide to change it? Really...? Another poor decision with regard to streets and traffic. It only makes morning commutes more difficult and unsafe. I can only image how congested this will make school bus traffic later this summer. You cannot fill in a pothole or repave a road, but you can change traffic markings on a roundabout after five (5) or six (6) years...?
