The sidewalks at this location are never shoveled/ salted/ de-iced. This includes the ones around their building and the main walks on 6th and 7th streets. Navigating these areas as a pedestrian is frequently dangerous due to ice and piles up snow during freezing weather. These walkways are consistently inaccessible/ impassable even for an able bodied pedestrian but the accessibility issue is much worse for some. This is a very large lot and creates a significant safety issue and nuisance for the Near West Side community

While the massive parking lot has been cleared for days, as of this noon, the sidewalk has not been shoveled and entails pedestrians walking in the street on W. Third.

The light that used to light up the small picnic pavilion on the NE end of Bldg&Trades park has been dark for at least a few months. This is a very dark zone and it is unclear whether it was disconnected on purpose or if the lamp simply needs to be replaced.

The new W pedestrian entry to Rose Hill Cemetary is cleared from the walkway to the pillars, but blocked by mounds of snow from the pillars to the cemetery roadway. Please keep all pedestrian walkways to and from the cemetery clear and safe.

The public sidewalk in front of Smokeworks BBQ was insufficiently cleared – especially for an area of high pedestrian traffic in the downtown business district. Photo taken 2026 Jan 29 – 1:22 PM
